Replace Injectors?
I have my fuel rail off as part of a turbo swap. I inspected the injectors and found that 3 of them have cracked plastic at the tip (see photos below).
Do I need to replace these injectors, or is the cracked plastic inconsequential? Before I had the car apart, the injectors were working just fine (as far as I could tell anyway).
BTW - At a minimum, I plan to replace the injector O-rings.

You could get a fuel injector seal kit which includes the cap.
It's cheap $4 per kit from rennbay (www.rennbay.com)
I would also suggest sending out your injectors for cleaning (at a pro).

Hosrom,
I just ordered the injector seal kit for all 4 injectors. Thanks for the info.
Next question, how do I find an injector cleaning place in my area? What sorts of shops do this work?

Well, i don't know in the US, but here in Dubai, i went down to the Bosch service centre (the injectors are Bosch ) and had them cleaned, re-sealed and reconditioned by them.

MARREN FUEL INJECTION is the place to have your injectors rebuilt.
They will clean them flow match them and install new seals very inexpensively.

What if you think your injectors are leaking, can they solve that through the cleaning/rebuilding process? Or do you just need to buy new ones.

The official Porsche injector kit comes with o-rings and caps. However, the caps are the taller yellow caps that apparently work on the n/a injectors. You may want to check with your supplier if they have the correct cap for the 951 injectors. Someone had sourced the right caps a while back, but I lost the link. I had one cracked hat like yours, and ran it for a while with no problems, including a trip to the smog test center.

The ones we carry are universal. They work well for both the 944 and 951. I have never had luck with the bosh ones on the NA or Turbo... thats why we carry the ones we do.

Usually if the injectors are leaking, it IS the seals that are cracked.
I was quite happy with the place I went to to get mine cleaned at tested. Theyre all 99% of new IIRC. And they looked new when I got them back.

Yes. I ordered the bosch reseal kit and mine leaked like a siv. The Hats were wrong and so were the spacers. Ordered travis' kit and it is totally dry now. Big thanks to travis for preventing my car from catching on fire. Ball joint kit was sic too. Travis, I should tell you some of my cafe risque stories sometime. That place is hilarious. You can only imagine what the stores would be like going to Florida and being just up the road.

I was able to find a Bosch part number for the shorter (6.6mm) yellow pintle cap that should be used with our injectors - 1 280 423 731
This pintle cap is included in Bosch injector seal kit - 1 287 010 708. This is a kit for late 928 cars.
Marren sells the correct size 6.6mm cap in their seal kit
