Clicking noise after turning it off

Clicking noise after turning it off
When I turn off my car it seems like some fan is running for about a minute after the car is turned off. I can feel the air blowing and it just sounds like a fan of some sort. BUT sometimes when I turn off the car, instead of getting that fan affect, it just clicks for the same amount of time. Maybe that fan is hitting on something? Does anyone know what this is and what is wrong?
Thanks for the help.

You sure it's a fan? The 951's have a electric water pump under the hood that pumps water thru the turbo after shut down - could this be it?

hmmmm, could be. I swear I felt air moving from under the car once, but it's been so long since I was even in the presence of my car I don't remember so well. Maybe it was just the wind or something. I figured it was something to help the turbo cool. If it's the water pump, why would it make that noise?

Can't explain the clicking, but there is a thermostat that keeps the big radiator fans running after shutdown in hot conditions as well. If it's the turbo pump you should be able to touch it and tell if it's running - it's located between the radiator reservoir and the driver's fender.

It's definitely not the exhaust cooling, I know what that sounds like. It really sounds to me like a fan hitting on something. I've tried looking for what it is but I can't really see in there very well, I wish Porsches were as simple as my Honda... I am pretty sure it is a factor of how hot the car gets, because after very short drives it doesn't do it. The radiator fan's running would explain the fan like sound I hear after turning it off, but if the radiator fans are hitting on something, why would I not hear it while I'm driving as well, and why does it only do it some of the time? I am at a loss...
