Default Roll Cage

Can anybody tell me how to locate a Matter roll cage for my car?

I'd like to see how this brand fits compared to Safety Devices and Autopower.

Any other brands to consider?

Thanks,

Jason

Good question. The Matter cages (basically Porsche factory equipment) were used in the Turbo Cup cars. I don't believe these are being currently produced for the 944. You might want to email Asarus (Seb) or George K to see if they know of any floating around in Europe?

Matter no longer exists... so you just can find some used Matter roll-cages but they are pretty rare for 944

If you're interested I can provide some pictures of the Matter cage in the 968 Turbo RS....it would be a great one to copy.

No, that doesn't really sound like it's worth it, Jason. I mean, who would want a picture of a rollcage that was approved for factory installation by one of the finest engineering firms in the world?

Sorry, I couldn't refrain from the sarcasm. If you could, please post pics here, or pm me, and I'll shoot you an e-mail to request them.

Thanks,
Jon

Jason,

Yes, we would all definately appreciate looking at photos...

I'm having second thoughts about gutting the interior right now. but, I sure wouldn't mind making my doors lighter! I've heard that one could get manual cranks and such.

My 968 has to be one of the heaviest models around!

There is a guy/shop that posts on rennlist every so often, that was making replica Matter cages. The guy, Steve Wistuba (MySwiss), sent me some pics earlier this year. I actually tried to get in touch with him just this week because Im looking at swapping my cage out for the Matter replica, but I have not heard back from him. Anyone have current contact info for him?

Anyway, if you do a search using "Matter Cage" on the 944 or turbo board, the old thread should show up, probably sometime this past march. Edit- it is on the turbo board under one of the Al Holbert Escort/Cup car threads.

Speaking of that Al Holbert car.................whatever happened to it? The guy that bought it had no money to restore it, and was trying to sell it. Please tell me it went to a good home. Anyone know?
