Default well... yeah

Hey guys,

Well, me and my father were hard at work, and got the head off our 86' 944 turbo in about 4 and a half hours, and as told, the cylinder was scored.... but strangly, it was the wrong cylinder! We were told cylinder #4 was scored, but cylinder #3 (which was holding perfect presure) was scored farly deeply. Cylinder #4 did have a couple small scrapes on the wall. Luckly we know a guy over in waterbury (a 20 minute drive) that does heads and can bore cylinders .

The valves though...were discusting. (you'll see) lots of coroshion, which is the reason the car was running so poorly. Well injoy the pictures i'll inform you guys when the head and cylinders are back in action!

Does he have the right hone for our Alusil bores? How does that work, can you just hone them or do you have to etch some of the aluminum out again?

im pretty sure he has the right bore's because he does alot of work on porshces (did a valve job to my bro's 911) and i guess you can hone them out, up to .50 mm. im not sure thats why i am having a pro do it.

Well took a look in one of the "out" hoses off the water pump... and well lets just say it is not water in there . clumps of dirt and just crap were almost plugging the hose ... Time for a new water pump and time to clean the cooling system haha

It might have been over use of "Bars-Leaks." That stuff does resemble big clumps of dirt, at least in the bottle anyway.

Looks like you took off more than the head! Is that a modified AFM? Check out the pictures of my cylinder here:

When I saw this, I decided to start building a 3.0 liter motor, and just run this one the way it is for a while. It's been a year and a half now, and no problems yet. In fact, I made 350 rwhp to the wheels with that cylinder. Mine may look worse than it feels.

Yeah my guess is its from the "stop leak" crap that people put in to stop a leak in the cooling system. The guy who owned the car before us was pretty dumb and lied to our face about the car... Note to self, never buy off ebay again!

WELL atleast its a fun project

P.S. started to take the motor out today but still need to get the cross over pipe and the cross member, plus some other things.

Nothing the matter buying off ebay, as long as you get a pre-purchase inspection. There are many ways to get ripped off, and ebay's just one of them
