Default Can the Idle Solenoid be bypassed?

I'm trying to troubleshoot a vacuum leak. Can I just put a tube in place of the idle solenoid to see if that is my leak? or will that let too much air thru. Better to plug both hoses that connect to it for testing?

Thanks,
Dan

If you want just for testing reasons, you can bypass it using the Diagnostic Plus:

I need to physically bypass it to see if it's leaking vacuum. Something is hissing under there and I've already checked each hose. That's the only thing left without pulling the intake manifold.

I take it you have update all the vacuum lines under the intake, otherwise there is a crapload of lines under there that could be leaking. I think NZ951 has just capped the ends where it attaches to the intake and the intercooler pipe.

I've pulled and checked each line. (working under the manifold!)

I'm trying to figure out how to block off or replace the idle valve to see if that is what is leaking. Should I replace it with a tube or a couple plugs?

I would plug it. Your car should be able to maintain idle when it is warmed up and the A/C is off with it plugged at both ends.

I found my problem. The intake gasket is leaking. I guess if I wasn't trying to be so smart by working under the intake, I would have had it fixed by now. Oh well. Thanks for the help.
