Default autometer boost gauge incorrect ?

i just got my autometer boost gauge today and noticed the needle is reading at just below 4psi right out of the box. is that normal? i would think it should read at zero psi when it's not even connected yet. i also didn't see any way to adjust this. any advice is appreciated.

I have yet to buy a boost gauge that reads 0 . After four attempts. I would try installing it to see if it zero's out after it see's some vac. If not return it for another.

You get what you pay for, especially with Autometer. Mines a bit off, as is my buddies.

No there doesnt seem to be a way to adjust them, at least not on mine Z-Series? or my buddies Ultra Light.

I am not hearing good things lately about autometer's accuracy in their gauges.

I checked one of mine against a calibrated gauge not too long ago. Off by 1 below 21 psi, off by 2 over 22 psi.

My autometer boost gauge was a POS, inaccurate. I got a VDO unit, its spot on.

B951S, I switched from Autometer to VDO, the problem is the VDO needle vibrates real bad.. Do you have the same problem, or just me?

I've had no issues with my VDO boost/vac gauge. A friend and fellow rennlister has experienced similar results with his. I have also noticed that the stock boost gauge on my car is very accurate when measured against the supplemental VDO gauge.

okay from all this feedback i'm actually considering returning this for a refund and buying a vdo instead. the problem with the vdo is that the display seems to be harder to read because the increments are closer together.

I have a mechanical VDO gauge also, it does vibrate at 5psi, then comes right thereafter. I am going to make a sender to recalibrate the stock dash gauge.

I noticed the same on my Autometer boost gauge. When the engine is off, it won't return to zero & it reads a little into the vacuum. If I gently hit the gauge, it returns to zero.

I have the Ulta-Lite and it reads 0 when teh engine is off. I haven't had it tested for accuracy but it seems to be doing well.

I have a Autometer Sport Comp. You might think it reads a little vacuum with the engine off but looking at the scale it shows that the '0' isn't actually directly over the correct mark.

Anyway, my gauge shows the exact same values as my Link box.
