Default Blitz SBC-iD & power meter

Aftermuch research and hunting on ebay, I picked up a Blitz SBC-iD with power meter. I was thinking of where to put it. The area under the stereo is full of gauges. Has anyone tryed mounting high up on the windshield, butted up against the top edge running the wires down the A piller?

I would love some feedback on those who have installed the unit and are running it as far as placement and set up tips etc. Anyone running the power meter?

Are 1/4" hoses ok?? Right now I have 5/16" fuel hose for WG duty. I am conerned about ballooning and thought a smaller hose might be the way to go.
Thanks.

I have both, they're shoved in the glovebox - I have a boost gauge visible, everything else I set and forget, and tuck out of sight and away from thieving eyes.

Sam
What WG/sping setting are you using it with and are you running it in dual port mode? How does it work for you?
Thanks in advance.

Ive been thinking about that spot too for some gauges or something...

The only problem I can forsee is night driving, if youre looking at the rearview mirror and theres the display distracting you... Just a thought.

I was thinking up at the top left corner. THe SBC-iD is only about 1/2" thick so It should work. My only concern is the viewing angle, the unit will be tilted forward. Just need to make sure its still clearly visible. Some flourecent displays tend to have a limited viewing angle.

Tial 38 or 46 (depends on the car), spring I honestly don't know, bought one used and the other I didn't specify, it's irrelevant, and of course I'm running dual port, there's no reason to give up response and power - it's got the fastest boost response of any EBC I've tried (that being a number of cheap ones plus the AVCR) - my experiences correlate with SCC's review on EBCs. Greddy's e-01 and Turbosmart's unit are on my list to try.

I put my sbc id in a pannel where the ash tray was but I was wondering what I was going to do when I get the power meter. I will post pictures soon on my other thread.

However, I'm having problems overboosing to 1.32-1.38 bar. I dont know how to set up the SBC id to limit boost. I dont know what I did to change it but it was working perfect for a few months. I still have a stock WG but plan to get a tial soon.

How do you set up the tial with the SBC id to use a dual port?

Thanks

Sam, do you get any overshoot when you do the following test...

Hold third gear at about 4,000 rpm, tip in the throttle slightly to start uilding boost and then slam it open. My previous EBCs have all had trouble stopping at the set point when I try this but otherwise would work fine.

I'll have to get back to you on that once I get back to the cars and get them running again - it'll be winter at earliest, next summer more likely.

Got mine installed, it renewed my confidence in EBC for good, its amazing. Talk about rock steady boost. I have set 15,17,20 and 22 psi in the 4 channels. There is nothing I can do to provoke a spike. Boost build fast and holds rock steady. Very impressed. My link and my previous Profec B spec II are not a patch on this EBC. I found using nice thick 5/16" fuel hose yeild the best results, keep them short as possible.

Azmi, try using the tial in single side port mode and switch the SBC to AC wastegate. You won't notice any difference in boost response but the SBC seems to like it better.

Davinder, at what RPM do you hit 15, 17, 20 and 22psi in 4th gear? I just want to compare your setup to my setup, Stage 3 and soon Profec B (1st gen).

Thanks

It really is the best EBC out there.

ok, how did you set the boost, i'm over boosting. can you list the menues and settings.
When i changew the set value by even 1 it will only boost to .28 bar. It is like all or nothing, 1.38 bar or .38. very anoying

Azmi
First off, I would set the unit to read psi. Set the gain to about 5-10. Then dial in pregresively increasing 'set' values until you get the boost level you want. Then increase the gain until it start to spike, back the gain off a littel and your set. I found that the same gain can be used for all channels and the boost is then simply a function of the 'set' value for each channel. There is definately something wrong with your sert up.
My gain for all channels is around 18
Set for various boost targets range from 40's for low boost to 80's for high boost. I can 'dial in' a fraction of a psi by manipulating set levels.
I would make sure you are set up for the right kind of WG. Make sure it is set to WG if you are in dual port mode or AC if in single port mode.
Good luck.

(John, I'll have to get back to you on the boost RPMs..)

B951S - what aspect of the Profec B Spec 2 were you dissatisfied with? I just installed the Profec in my car after debating for a while which way to go. Considered the Blitz and also the AVC-R, went with the Profec due to cost and a number of reviews indicating it performs with the best of them (minus some nifty features) for a fraction of the cost.

Any insight? My car isn't running yet so I can't comment on the Profec's performance in my car.

Thanks!
