That is sooooooo sad it leaves me speechless... I would rather be a ricer then drive a Porsche with an american V-8 stuffed in it. Why not just drive an older vette or Z28? Do american cars suck that bad?

I don't know whether to take that as a compliment or an insult.

What is so sad? Were people crying when Shelby put his V8's in the A/C bodies?
You know modding a 951 engine is not exactly cheap or easy. You can spend $10k on upgrades and have the motor hand grenade the very next day.

I can't blame anyone for throwing away the anemic NA engine and putting something in there that's easy to work on has gillions of dollars of R&D and makes decent power.

Lets face it if 944NA's were that great, non of us would have 951's and be mortgaging the house to mod them.

So, what if I stuff a V6 Audi turbo in my 951
would I be penalise as well ? I love my 951
but as a person with mechanical engineering
background, the design of the engine is nothing
to shout about.
So what if it's a Porsche engine.

I hate to say it but this board is pretty nasty to anyone who hybrids a P-car so we can't feel insulted when they lash at us.

That's all well and good but I haven't bashed any of those guys. I could give a crap less if someone wants to stick a Range Rover V6 or a chevy V8 into their 944. I'm the last one that has any right to get onto a soapbox and preach endlessly about not modifying 944's and keeping them bone-stock.

I just don't want to be "infamous".

Tifo,

That just means you are more than famous, you are In Famous, similar to El Guapo from the 3 Amigos....

Right on. I guess that's like being "in cognito", or where ever that is.

Stephen... some folks WERE crying when Shelby dropped a V8 into the AC. But what a car and legend it evolved into. Healey dropped a RR V8 into and evolved the 3000 into the 4000 which was never produced in quantity. There was Lance's Scarab, The Sunbeam Tiger, Cunningham, Allard, Lister, and more... All Big A$$ V8's stuck into sports or sports/racing chassis' in the 50's and early 60's.

Not my cup of tea, and I hate to see a good 944 butchered, but if it is engineered VERY, VERY well... marginally acceptable. Still not going to be too critical.

haha no doubt. I personally think a 944 V8 is a great thing. Easy to mod, tons of potential, at a lot cheaper cost than what I've spent on my car, that's for sure.
