Just above the DME plug on the wiring harness of my friend's '87 951 there is a small plug with a jumper wire joining its two female connections. The label on this plug says " 944.612.525.01 Stecker F.DME Kurzschluss ".
What is the purpose of this small jumper wire? My '86 951 (which uses the same DME unit) does not have such a jumper wire, so I'm wondering if it should. Please advise, and thanks.

Kurz = Short
Schluss = Close
I haven't noticed it myself but it sounds like itäs used to create a locked circuit.
Sorry about the bad english but I have to translate it from German-Swedish-English and don't have a vocabulary big enough..

There are two jumper loops on the DME cable that allow the DME to select one of the four sets of fuel/timing maps contained in ROM. US/Canadian/Aussie models do not use either jumper. California/Japan cars use the coding plug (944.612.525.01). ROW cars use the impedence adapter (944.612.421.00). Swiss/Swedish cars use both.
