How difficult is it to find LSD and "Sunroof Delete" together?
Hello all,
I am in the market for a car that I can drive everyday, and take to the track and to autocross events. I'm 6'3" and would love to not have a sunroof (I also do not want to deal with the complex mechanism). LSD seems to be a big differentiator for autocross times for the 944-based cars. I have not felt like I needed it in the rear-heavy 911.
I just missed the opportunity to buy an 86 with LSD and no sunroof. It also had the sport seats. Should've acted sooner.
How difficult is it to find a 951 or an s2 with LSD and no sunroof? Would I be dreaming if I waited for this combination to appear in the classifieds?
Thanks,
ST

That may very well be a reach. I don't know the numbers but it is very rare to find a sunroof delete option. Were they even imported (as in the ones that are hear are grey-market)?
Even if you can find a sunroof delete, if it doesn't have LSD, it can be added for a reasonable cost.
The sunroofs are pretty reliable and very easy to fix if something does break. How important is it to you?

We seem to be getting some Japanese market cars imported to our area that are sunroof delete. I am not sure if they are being imported to the US market. Pretty hard option to find otherwise.

If you dont want the sunroof, get a 951 with an LSD and go to www.gt-racing.com and buy a sunroof delete and have it installed. Good luck.

LSD, sunroof delete, and sports seats are all rare -- a car that has two of them are super rare, let alone all three! I'd focus on finding a non-sunroof 951 (I never heard of a non-sunroof S2, but I'm sure it's out there). Trannies and seats are easily swapped in.

Thanks heaps guys - gotta love Rennlist!
The person who was selling the 951 w/ the LSD, sunroof delete, and sports seats took a deposit for the car last night. Oh well, the search continues. Now I know better what to look for...

I'd saying your chances are very slim of finding non-sunroof car. If you are worried about headroom, remember that the 944 sunroof design is completely different than that on the 911 or 928. It is not power sliding or anything and hardly encroaches on headroom at all.
As far as rare optioned cars go, I know of one locally that makes me very jealous A friend has an '87, black on black, no sunroof, LSD, Sport Seats, and ABS. It is euro-delievry car with all appropriate stickers still on the original windshield. If that wasn't enough, its also the APE original prototype car from way back when. NICE car pushing 200k miles IIRC

I'm 6'4 and have no problem getting in my car with a helmet. I have my seat straight up, so the seat needs to be leaned back one to two notches. If you want the seat all the way up then take the roof off.
