Post Stock Turbo How much HP/Torque

How much hp and torque can I expect out of my
engine using the stock K26/8 turbo?
Whats the best way to go to get the most out
of the engine using the stock turbo?

Spend as much money as possible, buy one of everything. You could also search.

About 250/260rwhp. The stock turbo can support too much boost at higher RPMs.

A wastegate, good chips, MBC, etc will get about 260hp if you engine is in good shape.

Make sure your maintenance is done before tuning.

Is it worth putting a MAP or MAF on the car with the stock turbo?
If so which is better?
Thanks

With the stock K26/8 you can expect around 300 rwhp at around 15-16 psi boost, and maybe a bit more if your turbo can hold 18 psi in the upper rpm's. This assumes MAP (or MAF). With the stock AFM, you'll do a bit less, around 270-280 rwhp. I'm very close to 300 rwhp with nothing more than the mods in my signature and a K26/8 that drops boost at the top end. You can get in excess of 300 ft-lb torque from 3500 rpm to the upper rpm's, again depending on how strong your turbo is.

Like Jake said, I got 275 rwhp and 300 lbft at 15lbs boost with my 26/8, chips and AFM. I also had an LBE and stock shimmed WG.

I now have this turbo in my '86 car and it feels very similar in power to my '89 car.

Not sure if i am right but should u only have one boost controller not the LBE and the EBC together.

Thanks for all the good info!
So it is worth putting a MAP or MAF kit on with the stock turbo.
Are the MAP and MAF both good setups?
Are there reasons to go with one over the other?
Do I need to increase the size of the injectors
to get around 300hp.
I've been talking HP but I'm really looking for
more torque over a wider rpm range.
Thanks this forum is great so far.

Here's my dyno results (Dynojet 248C) with the Guru MAP setup and the 18 psi Guru chips. I'm running 18 psi peak (around 4000-5000 rpm) but the boost rolls off to 15 psi at redline (turbo runs out of steam). I'm using the stock cat so that may be a bit of a hindrance to getting more power out of this setup. However, I think the MAP is a great bang for the buck (under $2k total upgrade cost) and pretty easy to install.

I think 310-320 rwhp is possible with the K26/8 at 18 psi but that's pushing the turbo to its limits. Beyond that it makes sense to think about a turbo upgrade. Also, the conventional wisdom here is that the stock injectors are maxed out just short of 300 rwhp, so, yes, bigger injectors are advisable.

Jake951 thanks for taking the time to post all that info. It's helped me decide to go with the Guru Map setup. I've been reading alot about it
but it always helps to have first hand experience
to go by.
From what I've been able to find out it looks like the MAF setups would be alot more expensive
considering the purchase of a laptop to tune the car properly.
Thanks

A maf is well worth the money. The car will respond much quicker and the boost hits a lot better. Not to mention the sound. AWESOME!!! I think my maf quit was the best investment I have made.
