I've read that it's hard to get a MAF to idle well??
And do you need a laptop to tune the thing?
If you could somehow tune it on the oll desktop
the cost would be in line with a MAP setup, I think.

The MAP already measures the temp/pressure so in winter driving you don't have to re-tune it to make the weather. That is what I am leaning towards once spring comes here. Don't want to add some serious HP before winter considing it is my daily driver. Having 240rwhp and 290tq in the winter with a non-lsd isn't fun, I can't image a car with close to 300rwhp with 330tq in the car for the winter after my upgrades I plan to do.

Here's my dyno plot too. I have a K26/8 and Guru MAP stage 2ish. I have some serious issues with dropping boost from my stock shimmed wastegate. I'm also only running these chips at 16psi. I think I have some more to extract from this turbo before I move on to a new one.

Just ordered a set of Guru V7 18 psi chips for
my car. Will the stock waste gate hold that much
psi even with the shims? I thought it was designed for 13 to 14 psi ?
IS that why your only running 16psi JustinL?

I'm running 16 psi because I was told that I'll be maxing out my stock injectors if I up it to 18. After the winter and a bit of a rebuild, I'll up the boost to 18psi with new injectors. I haven't really watched my tuning module MAP readout at the top end of 3rd and 4th to see how much it really is dropping, but I do know that it drops away from the high boost zones on the MAP.

Yes, you should upgrade the WG if you want to hold 18 psi in the upper rpm's. Even a shimmed stock WG will drop boost at the top end. Probably the best bang for the buck is the Guru WG ($190 plus $100 refundable WG core deposit). I have a Tial, which is more money, but to tell the truth, I didn't see any difference in performance between the Tial and the Guru WG's.

But the TiAL is more customizable isn't it? I was under the impression the Guru wastegate only had one spring available.

True, the Tial is available with different springs. I have the Tial with the 1.1 bar spring (available by special order) The Guru WG that I had used a spring rated at 0.75 bar, but my bench tests indicated it was slightly stiffer. In any case I didn't see any difference at 18 psi. It might be different if you're trying to run more boost.

Lindsey Racing Stage II Maf has an air temp sensor. So no worries any time. Even the autothority with no air temp sensor, has no problem in the winter. My friends dad has one and the car runs awesome year round.

I run a Lindsey stage 2 maf and it's fine at idle. I also don't have to re tune for winter use. Although in the winter I do produce a few more lb's of boost. The car run's very well in 100+degree texas heat with our kind of hunidity....and it also run's very well in the winter.

So Jake,

Let me get this straight. You've had both the guru WG and the Tial and saw no difference?

This important as many have posted you MUST get a dual port WG.

Can a brown **** MBC work with the Guru? or would i have to stick with the LBE?

Thanks.

tconn: I just wanted to say that it is nice to see another 951 owner on the list that is so close! I hope that the Guru MAP kit is all that you are hoping for! Good luck!

danno told me you can run 18psi on the stock injectors untill 300rwhp,i guess the 3bar fpr compensates for the more fuel needed.shimming the wastegate will help boost but not much, depends on the condition of your wastegate also.your going to get a kick out of the guru chips.they are by far the best bang for the buck...also get the guru wastegate if possible....
