Default Selling 86 Turbo

I have a Gray 1986 Turbo for sale. It has 104K miles on it, tan leather interior, non-LSD. The paint is OK and it has a few small dents in it. It also has a body repair I have not finished on the LH front quarter. I'll finish it in the next few days and take some pics. The car is all stock, no mods whatsover. Stock radio, Pioneer front speakers. The car runs great, shifts smoothly,

The good points: Perfect dash, nice interior, cold AC, good tires, everything works. Lots of service records (clutch, motor mounts, timing belt, etc.)

The bad: A few small dents, repaired LF quarter, wheels need to be refinished. The speedo sometimes sticks at zero for a few seconds after you drive away, but then it works fine. It could use the dash light tunnels resilvered. It has an alarm but I do not have the key.

This would be a good car for someone who would do some bodywork and repaint it eventually, but it should be presentable if you want to put off the paintwork for a few years. You could jump in it and drive a few thousand miles without trouble, as far as I know.

The car is located in Boulder, CO. Asking $5800

Reason for selling: I just bought a Passat for winter so something needs to go.

Let me know what you think,
-Joel

Ooh, grey. Throw us some more pictures.

What caused the damage that you're repairing? How long ago was the major maintenance performed?

Plotting. . .

More proof that you can still get a nice 951 for under 6 grand.

It came with a dent next to the left headlight. The gentleman I bought it from was selling it for his son, who had moved away. He did not know how the damage had been done. Looks like maybe a truck backed into it. There is also a dent in the front valance which might be easy to pop out, and the usual stone chips.

Lots of maintenance was done around 75K that I have receipts for. I was going to change the timing belt as I assumed it was 30K old, but it looked brand new so I just retensioned it. It may have been replaced since the major service at 75K.

I'll take some more pics when I get back to work on that dent. The panel should be replaced and the whole car painted, but that is too ambitious for me. You could do OK with repairs and some partial painting though. The car is nice enough to warant a nice paint job so that would be a good thing for the buyer to save up for.

I would not say it's a nice car, but it is a decent car. It could be really nice though. A good car for someone who wants a solid 951 for less than $6k and can put some time and money into the paint later on.

Well, you never know. It might not sell in Sep/Oct, then I'd probably try again in March.

Adam: GET IT!
I'm not vouching for it, but it seems like a good car for you to start with; we can have a timing belt party in MA this coming spring and we'll do Laura's belts too.
You can have the body / paint worked out fairly well for under 2K in Plainfield, CT. I went to Minor's down there, nice guy (Tim) who runs it really cut me a deal on my front end work (still in progress - due to my delay not theirs!).

Chris, I wish you the best of luck, too! Re-reading my post, I sort ignored your interest - sorry about that.
Consider this a bump to the thread.

Chris, if you buy it I'll fly out with you and split driving duty on the way back. I already know the route.

I took a couple of pictures this AM. The car is dirty and the bodywork is in progress, but other than the stone chips and a few dings, the paint is not too bad. There is a dent in the header that might pop out without drama, and another under the passenger door in the pebbled stoneguard stuff (why is that such a common place to get a dent?) However overall the paint is decent looking.

Shameless bump for the weekend.

Oh, I also was reviewing some of the repair receipts. Unless the timing belt has been replaced since, it has 20K on it. But it still had all the texture on the teeth and printing on the back. Looked new.

That looks very tempting... I'll be in Boulder in a couple of days to visit a friend and I'd love to take a look at it while I'm there.

Great! I'm probably going to put it in the local paper for this weekend too.

I just got a link for a free Carfax:

http://www.slickdeals.net./?pno=5244&lno=1&afsrc=1

So I ran this car and it came up clean reported 2 owneres (although I think three is more accurate, if you count me.)
The records:

CARFAX searched more than 3 billion records from over 5,300 sources and found 7 record(s) for this 1986 PORSCHE 944 (WP0AA0954GN156748).
