Would that work with the 951's exhaust plumbing (i.e. crossover pipe)?

Wow, that's pretty neat. That would really help stiffen the chassis at that location. Mostly, I think it would probably help the turn-in a bit, as opposed to overall lateral grip.

I'd like all the chassis stiffness I can get, I may try for a group buy on this part.

Someone on the email lists (I believe it was Markus Blaszak) tested out the need to strengthen that part of the chassis. There's no appreciable flex on coupes in that area under track conditions, and none under street usage.

For a cabriolet, however, it might be a worthwhile move.

I doubt it. It occupies that same space that the crossover does. At least, from what I gather from the picture on that page.

I thought the same, until I came across a magazine ad from BK that said specifically it would work with the 951. We won't know, until someone tries...but that won't be me. No car parts for awhile.

I'd tend to trust BK, their products have consistently been some of the most tested and engineered on the market.

No, but I was thinking about this the other day and will crawl under one of my 951s and measure for it. I think it should fit, but will confirm it no later than tonight.

I'll be looking for what you find. I thought Damian had his installed already?

EDIT: Duh! Damian's car isn't a turbo...

On bimmerforums we have discussed the factory BMW E36 X-brace numerous times and many people say it made a world of difference in steering. The E36 one is in more of a true X design but I would be interested in knowing how well that one from BK would work on a 944.

I took a look at my 951 with a Lindsey 3" exhaust mounted and think it might have a fitment problem on the drivers side where the downtube comes down, but with a stock exhaust, it shouldn't be a problem. I talked with John at OG Racing and asked him, he checked with Brey Krause, and confirmed that it WILL fit, as long as you are running stock height strut mounts on top. Anyone using camber plates that lower the car will have a fitment problem.

He has two of them in stock at $279.00, if anyone is interested. You can reach him at 800-934-9112, and be sure to tell him Rennlist is calling, so that they consider throwing more support our direction!

Ah pity, we have a 3" Lindsey exhaust, and a lowered car and camber plates...

Looked like it could actually help the front of the car.
