Default How does the sunRoof on a 944 work?

New here and new to the 944. I just purchased a 1987 turbo and im trying to figure out the sunroof. I un-latch the roof and when I press the button the roof only goes back a couple of inches. What else do I need to do?

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

The roof doesn't slide. It only tilts up in the back. Or, if the car is off you can unlatch it and remove it, there is supposed to be a bag with the car that allows you to store it.

Welcome to the board,

Sounds like your sunroof is working properly.
If you want to drive without it, you have to pull it out manually, here's how:
1)Turn ignition switch to position 1, press rear half of rocker switch
2)Loosen front holding clamps
3)Lift and remove roof.

Thanks for the help. I thought you could open it half-way. So its either in or out?

No it is tilt or closed or out! Although I have seen one converted in UK to tilt then slide. I think the guy used componants from a Peugeot/Fiat or something. It can be done, well anything can be done!

Yup, closed, tilted, or out. Once you figure out the controls its easy to use. I for one would rather have to manually remove a BIG sunroof, than have a power sliding small roof.

On a side note, im reaching a new record for myself of having the roof off the car for almost a week. Not too shabby since I live in the car theft capitol of the english speaking world
