Default Dashboard Warning Light

I have a '86 944 Turbo, and you know the hazard light on the dash board right above the turn signal lights.

For what reason would this light flicker under hard cornering?

Thanks

To my knoweledge, the break fluid and oil pressure are both fine and normal. And this isnt happining all the time. Only every so often when I take a corner extremely hard at high speeds.

Mine would also flicker when I first bought the Turbo. It was the parking brake switch, it was too close to the lever and a wire was hanging by one strand. As I would corner hard or get hard boost a bad connection to the switch would move because of the seat shifting somehow. Probably kind of rare.

That light will flicker though if you are getting mild oil starvation to the oil pickup; always keep your oil level as high as you can especially if you track the car or plan an exteneded run with serious twisties.

On closer inspection, I have now noticed the oil level dipping very low during cornering. This is not good. Shall I just add more oil and pretend nothing is wrong?

I assume you mean oil pressure. It's a good idea to always keep your oil level at the top mark. These cars are famous for spinning the #2 rod bearing due to brief oil starvation in track use or hard driving. Several companies make a trap door baffle for the oil pan but for street use it might be overkill. I don't have one but then again I keep an eye on all fluid levels. Top off and it will serve you well.

The 86 didn't have the oil level sensor so you must mean your oil preasure is dropping. What is the oil preasure at say 3,000 RPM and at Idle? Might be a sign that the bearing are needing to be replaced. If you top off and it goes away, you got lucky.
