New owner with wheel question
Hi all, my names Jim and I just purchased my first Porsche. A 1988 944 Turbo. I'll post a picture as soon as I can. My last "toy" car was a 1992 Nissan 240sx with a JDM SR20DET. I'm 20 now and I've been into cars all my life. I've decided to change my tastes to something a bit more mature. I've come from American muscle, to Japanese imports, and I think I've found my favorite in my new Porsche. I'm a frequent forum user and I hope this forum will help me as much as some have in the past. Sorry for all my small talk, I just wanted to introduce myself since I'm sure I'll be a member of this club for a long time.
anyways I'm interested in a set of wheels. They came off of an early 90s 911 I believe. the specs are
F-16x7.5, 55 offset
R-16x9.5, 70 offset
I'm not too familiar with Porsche lug patterns or offsets. I know with my rear wheel drive Nissan, the lower offset was best, but I've read that higher offsets are good for late model 944s. I was just wondering if anyone knew if these wheels will fit my car, and if anyone can reccomend a good tire size/width for daily spirited driving.
thanks so much
Jim

Welcome to the club. Your car has the " late " offset which basically means you can use nearly any Porsche wheel out there. If you are thinking of upgrading your wheels you would probably want to consider going up to 17" wheels versus the stock size 16". This will give you many more tire choices and clearance for larger brakes.

I'm looking at upgrading my Fuch 16" wheels of my '86 model 951 to the 965 Turbo 18" Speedline 3 piece ones. Anyone with any idea what sort of size spacers I should be looking at?

I was interested in doing something similar, same year/wheels and putting on my takeoff Carrera 18" lightweights. Our two new wheels should have same size/offsets. To me it looks like 2"+ spacer in fronts with at least 1" in the rears. FWIW Lincoln.
P.S. Now I think I'm sticking with the Fuchs for the performance
