Question Where'd the Mojo Go?

I have an 86 951 that has been chipped, but is otherwise stock. Recently, I have experienced reduced power. It still goes, but not with the mojo it used to have. The boost gauge never goes above 1.0 anymore. Except for the reduced power, the car runs fine.

Any ideas of what the cause may be, or more important, what the fix may be?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Check all your Vacuum hoses, Intake hoses, possible exhaust leaks etc. You have to really look around and feel each connection. A small leak can be hard to find! Some members havehad cracked j-boots, loose clamps ....

Did you change you gas vendor?

Either vacuum leaks or your cycling valve is broken.

If the gauge never goes past 1 bar, you don't have any boost ... that's atmospheric pressure... so either a massive boost leak, which should be obvious as your car just wouldn't run properly (going way lean under cruise conditions, and way rich when you punch it) ... if it seems to be running ok, just not producing boost, check the wastegate - it might be stuck open, and also the turbo - on a friend's car, the compressor was busted - a bolt or something had flown in and chewed the fins off...

I had the same problem and it turned out to be a failed waste gate. Another likely culprit is the rubber hose that attaches the turbo to the intercooler pipe.
