Default Still can't find source of problem!!!!!!!!!!

Well, i had a smell entering the cabin area under full throttle. I replaced all vacuum lines (and sorted them in proper order), changed the thermo valve, aka 'rabbit ears' under the intake manifold, and cleaned up the fuel canister system control and vacuum valves. STILL getting smells under full throttle .

Smell is coming from the a/c vent (centre), i has this EXACT problem with my 88 944 NA. Could it be coming from the a/c system? maybe a pressure pipe is bad or something (or so i heard)?

I also noticed a fuel smell from my oil dipstick, sounds like a bad fuel pressure dampener, i am getting one within a couple of days, could THAT be the problem?

How to tell if the a/c pressure switch (little green switch next to the drier) is going bad? my fans come on/off after i switch off the a/c. When the water temp reads 2nd white mark, they come on for an INSTANT and switch off immediately.

Did anyone of you guys replace it? looks like an easy 5~10min job.

I REALLY want to solve these problems, OH by the way, when connecting the vacuum lines to the thermo valve under the intake, those two 'pongs' on the valve. does it matter which vacuum from the fuel canister system connect to it? or are they in special order?

Unfortunately, I cannot answer all your questions.

Funny smell inside cabin- generally its from the rear hatch seal.

Fuel in oil - generally a bad injector or due to making short runs where the car is not allowed to warm up

The injectors were cleaned out by Bosch a year ago. But i read articles on the fuel pressure dampner being the common source for this.

As for the rear hatch, the seal itself is new, but the hatch itself wouldn't close properly. It closes, but if i pull with some force, it would open.

SHould i shortern the pins more? (they are almost too short).

By the way, the smell comes only once after the first time of full throttle at any speed. AFter that, no smell is present (or maybe very VERY slightly).

Hatch -
Take a water hose and spray full force around it and see where its leaking - if it's the source. Its a PITA to adjust. Keep in mind that it can also be move side to side (slightly) by the bolts located to the rear of your sun roof. Proir to trying to readjust the hatch (if it is the source of your problem) disconnect the structs as they will work against you.

Edit: Same issue while on it. The smell got much stronger

I cannot understand how the real hatch could be letting fumes in. Did anyone have this problem?

What about the seal at the top of the firewall against the hood? It should keep all the engine fumes away from the fan inlet.

That big black seal that also holds down the fan motor cover assembly?

Yes that's the one.

Vacuum line connections to thermo valve: Red nipple is connected to the throttle body and the other one to fuel purge valve

I got mine new, there are no red/black signs. They are both black. As far as the seal goes, it's good as new. But i suspect the rear hatch, it closes, but with some force, it opens without the key..........anything else?

Rear hatch will suck in exhaust fumes. You need to lengthen the latch rods a little in order to catch entirely. I just did the same thing.

The latch rods, the ones with electrical wires right? not the pins mounted on the hatch?

No, I mean the pins in the back that go into the latches. They look like cones on the end.
