Default Turbo symptoms

Im sure this has been asked already but i couldnt find any topics when i searched it. IF anyone has a link to a previous one id appreciate it OR if not ........

What are the symptoms of a bad/ going bad turbo? Will you absolutley know when it blows? and to what consequences to your engine?

I've never heard of one "blowing" as in blowing up.

Normally the bearings and oil seals go and you get smoke or oil out your exhaust under boost. There's usually quite a bit of warning.

Or you can shred the impeller blades by introducing a foriegn object into the turbo, say, a blow off valve washer... The symptom of that condition is no boost.
