THe lights turned out nice.
From post:
headlights, we made the brackets w/ sheet aluminum, they're 90mm hella HID (approx 500 EACH) - not a cheap endeavour by any means, but i'm quite satisfied w/ the results...

the fog location is now used for two oil coolers, the brake duct inlets go below that.
if anyone has questions about the headlights feel free to ask, as brian found/posted, yes, it's a pair of hella housings / lamps under the GT racing covers / buckets.

oh and yeah the windshield is toast (stupid dead tree fell on it last year). gonna be the last thing to swap out.
the lindsey manifold absolutely made the turbo swap easier, and i like the quality of it's build. can't say on before/after performance as i changed so many things at once when i first put that on, but if it's half as good as they describe it, well, that's good enough for me!
the paint is arctic silver from a 996 btw.

cgmonster, you can get the h9 setup but if you want the HID lamps, you'll actually pay almost as much or more to retrofit them, and then it's not SAE/DOT legal, nor will it have quite the proper beam pattern. believe me, i didn't pay more than i had to to do it this way, but then again, if you just want to replace the flip-up lights and like the look of the projector/reflector side by side and don't mind just using halogen, the h9 setup is extremely economical (like a 5th of the HID cost if i remember).
turbite, the dash is the carbon race dash from Hank @ GT Racing. I don't remember if I got it thru Lindsey Racing or Chris, I think Chris on this piece, I've ordered a number of things from GT recently, and have been extremely impressed. The CF work is very 'race' aka not show winning quality or anything of the sort, but it's light, well made, and functional, so who cares? The headlight buckets on the other hand were EXTREMELY well made, I think he used a different mold / forming process, perhaps he vac-bagged / autoclaved / baked the headlight buckets vs just laying CF in a mold w/ resin on the dash?

The car looks amazing! And as everyone else said, those headlights are the nicest i've ever seen on a 951... In the end, what was your final building cost on those lights???

I think I got all 4 HIDs for under 2k, including the harnesses, relays, wiring, etc probably closer to 1800ish (connections hehe) then the CF buckets, clear covers, I think the prices are on GT's site, somewhere in the $2-300 range for both? Add on some other materials like the aluminum and I threw a few dollars my friend's way for his metalworking / welding time and I'd say it was about $2500 or so, give or take?

What did you cover the hole where the squirrel cage blower/heater plenum used to be?
I'm thinking about just covering it with a piece of metal and sealing it.

they have both, the 'race' which is simple / shorter in height / flatter, and the street replacement, which is basically molded off the original. since i wasn't going to reuse the factory gauges i went w/ the race one.
chris white cut a piece of aluminum and covered that hole, and then used that plate to mount the flex-a-lite heater core underneath. it was sealed w/ a plate of black plexiglass that chris cervelli had mounted his JRZ reservoirs to, but that wouldn't support the weight of the heater and had too many holes / leaked when it rained...
