Fluttering sound on shift
Ok here is the story. I installed the 60-1 HIFI with a Lindsey Racing BOV, and I get this gobbling sound and no whoosh when I shift, unlike with the stock setup. I sell the Lindsey unit and I put the stock one back on and I order a 50mm Tial. The stock valve makes a fluttering sound and no woosh. I finally manage to maori job up the Tial BOV and I get the exact same fluttering sound, no woosh. I think WTF? Then I have this crappy Linsdey silicon vac hose on so I wonder if its that weak walled stuff, so I get some rubber vac hose with a larger ID put it on and I get similar fluttering AND a delayed smallish woosh. Whats going on!? Could that fluttering be the WG? Or is it still the BOV? Or is it the air returning to the compressor?

i have thes same problem. When i run 15psi or less i get the woosh sound but when i run higher boost i don't get the woosh anymore. We tried it on brett's car too and it did the same thing. The bov just made no woosh and a different sound

You have a boost leak somewhere. Mine was making that sound only when my vacuum line came off from the stock BOV. With no leaks throughout that section you should only get a woooosh sound. I'm currently running a 993 factory Recirc valve.

Wastegate is plumbedback in. I have a line straight off the manifold to the Tial, its about 5mm ID hose, I made a dual banjo off the manifold port when I deleted the ISV. There is no leak.

Oh yeah. I have my HKS EBC set at 19psi. Occationally when running Xylene I'll turn it up to 21psi, but I only recommend this if you have the proper chip (DME) settings (Retard timing and mapped to your aftermarket products). Only twice has my vac line off the top of the BOV has popped off and followed by that fluttering sound. I know these things are hard to find, but most likely there is a leak somewhere.

Where else can there be a leak that influences the valve opening? This only happened once I put the new turbo on and happens at all boost levels. Man I am confused, its probably something simple...

i don't think my car is making the noise it usually makes when then BOV line has a leak. I will hopefully record it and post except my car is in pieces at the moment. Tomoorow we have a get together so i will have Brett try it on again and record it to show.

Some aftermarket BOVs make fluttering sounds if the spring tension is to tight.. as the BOV is venting, closing, venting closing, and so on... For example, my friend had a turbo integra, running a greddy bov, had problems with the boost not holding, and the woosh sound was there.. Tighten the spring so the bov doesn't open during higher boost... now a fluttering sound... You honestly have to hear compressor surge and a stiffer springed bov to tell the difference... Hope i made sense for you...
