Default She's home.

Well, after what seems like an eternity my 951 has finally arrived in Australia. I'm pleased to say that the car arrived in good shape with the exception of a bit of a notable stale smell that must be from the long time in the container. At first I thought it might have been some kind of antifungal agent spray from the quarantine mob but apparently not. Only damage was to my set of spare wheels because I stacked them incorrectly - live and learn. Thankfully the car itself was well enough secured and it survived its all stops world tour just fine. Cost was about 2800 USD to ship (door to port) and about 3800 AUD to get through customs and handling at this end. Sigh once a money pit always a money pit. That aside I am very happy to have her back.

A couple of pics from the joyus occasion

All I need now is for my broadband to get connected and I will be able to properly take part in rennlist again.

I am extremely happy for you too. To me it’s like the homecoming of a wayward child

Yeah its been hard to stop grinning now that the 951 is back. I'm looking forwards to getting to know the local track.

When I get some spare time I can start on the next project for the car which will be the Haltech. For anyone thats interested Haltech have now released a windows version of their software. Of course once the system starts to go into the car I'll let everyone know how its going. I'd like to baseline the car at the local track and its current performance on the local dyno before I switch to the standalone ECU.

Porshhh951 - Cost to get her back here was $5500 USD.

Duke - since she will spend all of her time in the forseeable future on the track I'll keep it track aligned / track camber and track pads on etc so track prep time will be a lot easier for sure. - Just got to find a decent trailer of my own now.

Dan - Australia is home, my time in the US was limited to a 3 year posting. I'd be happy to call Texas my second home though, and I'll have fond memories of TWS until the day I kick the bucket.

Keith, Ewainwright, thanks.

Nice to see that it made it...just wanted to thank you for putting together your site. It has helped me considerably. I am looking at your torsion bar write up and it is great.

Enjoy Australia!

Hey Matt I think there must be some rule about you have to stop counting how much it costs after a certain point and just put it down to the cost of having fun.

Scott - drop me a line whenever your likely to be around and we'll definitely catch up for a beer. There's a few blokes from work already interested in the car and pointing me to various tuners that they have found to be decent. Still haven't found exactly what I am looking for in terms of track events though (at Mallalla at least - may have to travel further afield).

Max - Good luck with the torsion bars, glad to see the writeup and web page is helping a few listers.

David, thanks, takes one to know one, as they say.

Cheers.
