Vacume or coolant line?

I'm in that process right now. That line is vacuum. However, you'll eventually need to remove the intake manifold and the some of the coolant plumbing up front to get the new starter to alternator positive cable to the alternator. So you have to drain at least part of the coolant. So to be on the safe side why don't you wait until you've removed the other stuff before you unplug this tube.

If you are talking about the big hose that goes from left to right in your pic that is a water hose. It supplies water to your heater core through that valve on the right.

Well this was more complicated than I thought so Im just gona wait until I get my turbo kit to do the install. I just don't feel like taking off the manifold twice. Thanks for the help guys.

The plastic thing is the heater control valve. That fat hose circled is hot coolant coming from the block. There will be a second hose hooked to the valve assembly just like it.
In the top right of the pic, see that thin brown hose? Thats a vacuum hose to control the valve.
Edit: FYI, if your heating system always blows hot air, and youve replaced the little clip in the drivers footwell, the heater control valve is to blame. Im about to replace mine. Its a cheap part, $20 tops.

It's the beige/light-green plastic thing underneath the 3 wire connectors in that picture above. It's hooked up to the coolant hose circled in the picture. When they start to fail, they can leak coolant down your bellhousing into your clutch and pilot-bearing...

Danno: If you look closely to the pic, on the top right side, there is that blue/black check valve. WHat is that connected to ? and where does the heater valve connect to (vacuum). I do NOT HAVE that blue/black check valve ANYWHERE in sight on my car, while the heater valve vacuum is connected to a T connection along with the a/c vacuum reserver (the black object to the right of the battery). I know it is wronge, do you have a diagram for this?

The diagram you have posted earlier (with the rabbit-ear circled) is the correct diagram. The check valve is in between the vacuum resevoir and the brake-booster. It functions to prevent manifol pressure under boost from draining the vacuum resevoir of vacuum. That way, you can still use the brakes when you're under boost.

Where is it located? what is it attached to? a pic would help, i do NOT have on installed on my car (along with a disconnected heater valve vacuum).

I looked again at the diagram, is it ON the brake booster itself then feeds that large vacuum line towards the vacuum reserver? I tries pulling off the brake booster vacuum, a hissing noise came out, is that normal?
