Default Installing a T04E or T04B

Guys
Can someone who has upgraded to one of these turbos, provide some direct feedback on the application itself. I understand that certain changes will be required to the exhaust to mate up to the turbo, but is this just buying a whole new down pipe and cross over pipe, or do you buy some type of adapter that will fit the turbo and the smaller exhaust on the car.
Thanks for the info.

It's pretty simple, if you use the Garret hot side, you have to have custom flanges on the downpipe and cross over. If you use a KKK replica hot side it bolts right up to the factory exhaust.

Magown,
Can you or anyone else list sources for the flanges. Are these flanges simply adapters that will allow the turbos to be bolted up to the current exhaust "as is" without any changes to the exhaust.
Thanks

It will also take a bit of fabrication to get a T04E compressor to fit. If your car is equipped with AC, then the alternator will have to be grinded down a bit, the oil line will have to be extended, there will be waterhose clearance issues, and you may have to relocate the throttle spring on the throttle body.

I know SFR sells a compatible down pipe to a pure Garrett
But hold on to your butt
its not cheap ....
If you want a compatible hot side, Viteese sells one
Steve would know a lot about that route ...:-)

Most people use a hybrid T04e or T04b that has a KKK compatible hotside to bolt right up. Several turbo shops sell a KKK compatible hotside. I don't know if you can just use a KKK #6 or #8 hotside instead.

I guess that's the million $ question. Since I have a kkk 26/6, can I just buy one of these T04E and create my own hybrid, or is there more to it than meets the eye.
Thanks as always

Thanks Eugene,
Talked to them, seems like they can get the job done. Since I am in the engine, would an upgraded HG be a good decision? Shoule be about 300 + HP based on feedback.
Thanks!

FWIW, my T04E does not have fitment issues (it BARELY clears) and the other guy I know with the same turbo has the same fitment, i.e. "just right"

You can buy weld on flanges if you want to go100% garret from Turbonetics or any turbo shop.

You can use a KKK #6 or #8 hot housing off of a core turbo but you will have to have it machined to use the Garret T3 exhaust wheel. There's really not much point by the time you pay machining charges and shipping you could order a brand new replica housing #8 or #10 that's already made for T3 turbine wheel in the following stages II, III, or V.

You also might want to consider installing our turbo adapter plate, which illiminates the all too frequent , oil leak between the centre section and the turbo (engine mount). This plate, actually takes care of mating the sqare hole in the aftermarket KKK centre section, to the round hole in the turbo (engine) mount. We sell these for 45$.
