Default Is this the 1- or 2-piece crossover pipe?

I don't have patience to wait anymore for the Guru wastegate, so I'm getting a Tial. I heard there were issues with fitting the Tial to the 1-piece crossover pipe. Is mine 1- or 2-piece? It's an '86.

Also; the updated pipe came MY 87, right? Was there a recall on the old pipe, or did the update come within MY86?

Thanks

It's the two-piece X-over. The 1-piece doesn't have that triangular flange.

My car has the non-bellow headers. I thought the 2-piece crossover and the headers were updated at the same time. Am I wrong?

Please forgive my ignorance and semi hijacking this thread but I thought that if you wanted a 2 piece (ala Lindsey racing ) you had to but it. I have a 88ts does
that have a 2 piece ?
thanks

2p x-over came standard in 87, but some late 86 may have the updated pipe, I've read. It seems the TS had a 3rd revision x-over pipe.
I did a more thorough search and found lots of info right here on Rennlist. People spell cross over differently so do a search on crossover, cross over, cross-over and x-over and you'll find lots of info.

Eddie, Lindsey's conversion makes it into a 3-piece, adding one more joint to the factory 2-piece.

Hey, did they change it to a 3-piece.I thought they used 2 clamps in the past to make it a 4-piece system or am I mixing things up with the SFR X-over. On the Lindsey website in the description they still speak about 2 clamps, but now there is only one.

There seems to be a lot of confusion about Lindsey's cross over pipe modification.

This was explained to me by Dave Lindsey so take it for what it's worth. They now refer to it as a 2 piece. Originally they calleded it a 3 piece.

Their designation doesn't have anything to do with the factory 1 or 2 pieces. It simply refers to number of pieces they cut it up to.

Originally they were cutting the pipe on both the passanger and drivers side (3 pieces) and added two V-band connections they charged $299. There were quality & fitment issues with the V-band on passanger side, so they lowerd the price to $179 cut it only on the drivers side (2 pieces).

Here is what mine looks like.
Lindsey calls it: 2 piece
Factory calls it: 2 piece
Reality: 3 piece

Hope that clears up the confusion.

I have an '87 built in late October '86.

It has the no-bellows 1-4 header and the one-piece crossover pipe. My understanding has been that Porsche offered a recall on the non-bellows header to a bellows header but no recall affected the crossover pipe. So some '87's have bellows headers and one-piece crossovers.

I am not sure what build date they started using the two-piece.

My '87 has the bellows 1-4 header and the one-piece crossover pipe. Go figure....

Quick Reply: Is this the 1- or 2-piece crossover pipe?
