good question and i don't know the answer :P My shop guy did the mod as I wanted the 996TT front kit on there but it would only works on early cars so he modded this set up for me.....it was like 20 years ago and I still have the same brakes and still works great !

The owner passed away and the shop eventually closed down a few years later so I can't even ask them lfor you. lol.

I'd like to see a picture of how the medium black caliper is mounted, to clear the bigger 911 turbo disc. There was quite a strong difference of opinion on the PP forum, about the effectiveness of doing just that.

Yes sure. The car is in semi winter mode now and it's cold out. When it warms up or the next time i have the wheels off for cleaning or for a brake job, i will take some pix for you. I was thinking of changing out the pads to something with less dust so i will snap some pictures. Not a brake expert by any means but also didn't have issues with this set up either....effectiveness wise, I don't track the car so can't comment on that particular use but street wise, even with stock rotor it was plenty. Maybe the initial bite was better ? can't really tell as it's was a long time ago so i am just used to everything now. I think the initial bite was better when it was first installed and break in...

Thanks. I'm pretty close to buying some big reds and big discs though.

So unless you wanted the bling factor and all out braking in track conditions, the medium black with better pads and rotors (in my case) is more than sufficient. Mine is a street car and for the occasional spirited drive, never find myself saying i need more brake. I run about 350 to the wheels on 18 wheels.

So better pads, maybe bigger rotors, and good fluid and lines.
larger rotors will not increase braking ablility...it will only help with not heating up as fast and cooling faster but increased unsprung weight.

Shorter torque wrenches apply the same amount of torque as longer ones with the same applied force.

Anyone else think 1 pound inch provides equivalent torque to 1 pound foot?

I hope you know I was being sarcastic? Looks like no one that has worked at LOLA has a sense of humor.

Thanks

This is pretty good for thermotical analysis of brake torque.

I never said it increases braking ability....it did improve feel and initial bite at least for me. I even stated that factory brakes is plenty sufficient for street use and light track duty. We are here to mod cars and using the bigger rotors from the 993TT is a mod. The OP wants to know various scenarios to help him make the decision and i provided my personal experience, nothing more.

Larger dia rotors always increases braking torque.
