Hi everyone, I just bought myself a 1986 944 turbo a few days ago which appears to be in good mechanical shape but is aesthetically dilapidated. It will be my backup car for my Maserati 4200 whenever it breaks down. It has black turbo S seats front and rear but the interior is burgundy. It strangely has a set of black door cards installed as well which I hate. I would like to change the door cards back to burgundy. I’m looking for a set of two but I can’t find any (I’m new to the Porsche 944 world). Is there a good 944 wrecker I could try? Possibly a used parts vendor that might have them? Loving the car so far. Any help is appreciated.
Congratulations and welcome. Looks like a decent example albeit with a mis matched interior. The front seats are known as sport seats (not specific to turbo S) and if you're the right size, are amazingly comfortable. If you can't find them from a vendor, I may be able to set you up with burgundy door linings. You will need the cards, door pulls, map pockets, release levers and trims and speaker covers for a factory look. Have the rear quarter linings also been changed to black?
Also, SEM is the go-to brand for high quality paint (use their adhesion promoter for best results). You can use it on all your interior door parts, including carpet and plastic trim when properly prepared.
Otherwise you'll still need color matched bits to make the conversion complete.

SEM spray paint is A+++. Works great on the 944 interior. I used a heat gun to speed up the process. Just dont get the head gun to close or the paint will bubble.
So I could just spray paint the door cards I already have rather than buy new ones?
Certainly!
However you may want to shop around for a few months. My experience is that the 944 family offers most every part for our cars sooner or later.
If you do decide to do a color change, remember that surface preparation and using top-quality coatings are the key to lasting success.
I bet a set of burgundy cards will come up on ebay or somewhere in the next 3-6-9-12 months. Probably would just keep a keen eye out. I'd skip the re-dye (I've done it myself on cars, it never holds up as well as I'd hope it would. Looks great at the start tho...)
Absolutely agree with @Gage. It will be almost impossible to prevent overspray settling on every unprotected surface.
Having said that, you could drape plastic sheeting over the car and expose the door through a slit, like a surgeon. Then mask off the entire door except for the interior panel, sans hardware etc.
Panel removal is straightforward and will allow for the easiest working position and results.
It means it's from the ghetto
That back panel has been recovered. The seat bottom is from a split back rear seat that is commonly found in the S spec turbo cars as well as others.
