We need to tension belts from three 951s. So, it's time to buy THE Tool,
but where to get it cheapest?

Thanks.

Lengthy matter of debate on whether or not it is really necessary (alternatives - Kriket ~$20, by hand), but Pelican has the tool for $450 if you call them. The website (last I looked) actually has a price of $545 up there, but when I called it was $450. No idea what shipping to Finland would be.

A well-used one came up on e-bay a month or two ago and went for $390

Try your local Porsche dealers and if no luck, give Sonnen Motorcars a call (1-800-4SONNEN I think). I got mine for $375 about 6 years ago. Not sure what their price is now. At the time, Automotion wanted almost $600 for the same tool.

I have the factory tool, and compared it to the Kriket at last years 944fest. In my opinion, the Kriket is a pretty nice alternative, and at a price of roughly $500 less, makes more sense. If I were to have to replace my P9201, I would go for the Kriket.

Regards,

Hi,
I just bought the Kriket to do the belts. Can reliable results be obtained? Did you ever compare belt tension with P9201 vs. Kriket.
Thanks,

Yep, we did a side by side comparison, and got reliable AND repeatable results using the Kriket. If I had the choice between the factory tool and the Kriket and they cost the same, I'd go for the factory unit, but for the cost difference, I'd definitely go for the Kriket.

Ok, I got the Kriket tool for now. What lbs settings have you used for balance and timing belts with it?

35 lbs. for the cam belt and 28 lbs. for the balance belt. The scale starts at 30 lbs. so set the balance belt just a hair below that.

This site has some good documentation on using the Krikit and they also sell the special wrenches, etc. that make the job easy.

$85 for Krikit, roller wrench, pin wrench and flywheel lock

No association or personal experience, just passing the information along.
