OK, go for it.

As with any type racing, have your wallet open for mods and repairs.

Uh-oh....
Try a search on "drag racing"
The consensus is that these cars aren't great for drag racing, mostly because they have a lot of expensive parts that will be needed to be replaced fairly often.

Although you may find a rebel or 2 around here who will disagree

If you bought one with the intentions of drag racing, you might want to reconsider. I kinda did this, but I also bought with intentions of autocrossing as well. These cars are getting old and if you launch them for drags, you WILL snap and break parts. I'm not saying don't do it, but just know that you will most likely be breaking stuff a lot. These cars are more suited towards autocrossing and road courses. This is my opinion, but im sure there are other that will agree. I have dragged people before, but i used rolling starts so to lessen the risk of breaking parts.

rolling start is the way to go.
modded these cars are very hard to touch in third.
no lag, tall gears.

I take off from the line all the time,
but I have never 'power braked'
where you give it gas and hold the brake to reduce lag off the line.
also I have no lsd and 325 lb ft of tq so I just spin a wheel

these cars are perfect for a b-16 engine swap.

That's kind of like getting married because you want to get laid all the time!

You can drag these cars but the components that get abused during drag racing are not the strongest or the cheapest in the 951. If you have the $ then I say go get em. I have a feeling you're a younger guy and sometimes you just have to learn the hard way. I drag raced pretty heavily for 10 years and the 951 wouldn't be my choice.

OMG!!! THAT IS FRIGGIN HILARIOUS!!!

On another note...if you wanna drag...get an old muscle car...porsches were meant for driving, not straight lines

EDIT: Not flaming, I like drag racing just as much as the next guy....especially if its a 69 Camaro...*drool*

screw it, If you want to drag it- go for it. As long as you know what might happen and have the cash to replace it, I dont see a problem. Your car, your problem.

I agree...

I have seen worse platforms on the strip.

As long as you have the cash and understand what can and will go wrong ...go for it.

Take the front sway bar off and let her rip....

In the end its just a car???? whether its your daily driver, weekend autocrosser or drag car.... do what you want. Its your coin.

P.S search for Rage2

Uhh...I just say no man. Ill stick with the liquid form for a buzz. I dont drag mine, dont ever plan on it. Just saying that if person A wants to, then person B doesnt need to tell him not to unless person B happens to be footing the repair bills in which case person A might want to take the advice of person B by keeping it off the drag strip. Ill be person C and C myself out of this thread. later.
