Well, I take back what I said. I was thinking when you said street racing, that you ment like fast and furious style public streets. An airport would be a nice place to do that.

I have no information on the tranny but the 924 turbo had a reputation for unreliability. Someone has said that it would be possible to write an entire book with all problems with the 924 turbo.
It would be very strange if Porsche made a the gearbox weaker when they designed the more powerful successor to that car?!

At the time i took my car to the track, on the 1/4 mile i shift to 4th gear, but it just went up to 3.5k, but remember that at that time my car was stock and my 2th gear was not working properly.

You'll have a hard time getting a definitive answer to that. But, I can tell you that I've heard one tuner say it's better, and all the others that bothered to comment say it's not.

I'd try to find a Turbo S tranny if you can. It's Definitly the best...

Drag raced mine heavily for a summer mostly street racing made 2800 in a few months but... Risked alot...one more ticket equals 5 years no lic. Broke several axles one stub axle the cross pin in the open diff now torsen equipped. I have a 9 sec street terror in the form of a mustang to drag race. Owning a auto repair/performance shop helps as in I get a steep discount on parts and can repair all the broke **** as well. I actually bought a wrecked car during that time period for extra stuff and Ebayed what I knew I wouldn't need. I've caught lots of **** from the listers on this very subject over the years do a search with my name. If you need some advice PM me. I'm not mad at thoise on the board for raggin me everyone has an opinion. Just like I hate Autox ing. I wanted to turn both ways I'd still be the WKA gold cup champ in gokarts but that is boring. Later all

"thinking more of feathering from 3.5... "

Yep, with mild wheel spin will give the best launch.

the 12.70 was with the K-26. I was using 325 35 17 nitto DR's with the pressure at 17 lbs. Boost was 20 in first and 22 2nd up. That was with the stock afm a drop in K&N and europroducts chips. Only mods were the chips tires and a SFR 3" catback. Did I mention my car killed Z06 vettes etc in those days. Coming outof the clutch rather slow at first until the boost hit then dumping it the rest of the way. I actually think the tires hurt a little as a little wheelspin helped keep the boost up. I never lift when I shift and rarely use the clutch when I'm racing. Most people didn't believe that "944 would run soo good". I haven't ran the car since I put the MAP kit on. I just finished putting on my new WG about an hour ago. I've gotta run the vacuum lines and then it'll be done. My car was a "freak" is the only way to describe it. I wish that it was still as strong as it was then.

You just pull really fast something I learned from racing mustangs my whole life. You let off the throttle just a touch so the gears will come apart and then CRACK into the next gear. It sounds horrible. trust me. I will clutch occasionally never ever lifting all the way or remotely close to it. I try to shift as quickly and seamlessly as possible. Just beating on the car I will clutch. I do not reccommend doing this!!! serious trans damage will result. I know because I've fixed mine several times now. My fourth gear is killed right now it always gives a soft grind going in once it's warmed up.

Ohh yeah just finished the wastegate. I left the dump to atmosphere it's rather annoying that way I'll probably hook it up when I have time.
