Ok, do the guy a favor and give him some actual detail.

What's weak on the cars for drag racing?

CV Joints?
Trannies?
Diff?
Clutch?

I honestly don't understand why they wouldn't hold up. I personally know three guys with 500+ hp at the wheels with SC'd 928S4's. Drivetrain is 100% stock on these cars. Two are 5-speeds, one is an auto. Except for the transmission, the 944 and 928 share the same basic design. I see nothing on the 928 that is any befier vs the 944 in this area. Also remembering how much more the 928 weighs over the 944.

I may be missing something, reason why I posted. Flame Away!!

Sorry if i'm being rude, but you own a PORSCHE not a Supra, Skyline, Subaru etc....these cars have two MAIN things in mind. ALL Porsches (especially 944's) are built to last, secondly, these are TRACK cars, not nitro pumped fuel guzzling dragsters. You wanna beat high modded cars? get them on a track and you shall see a difference with minor mods alone. Just forget about this "Drag" thing please!

I dunno, the first 0-100-0, 911 Turbo proved to be the best 1/4 car on the planet.

On 2nd thought. After seeing such a display of wise advise, go ahead and drag race the car. Here are some tips for a great 1/4 mile time.

You will need to crank the boost at least to 22psi.
Use 87 octane pump gas (leaded if available).
The optimal A/F ratio should be 16.9 or greater.
Rev the engine to 6000rpm then suddenly drop the clutch, power shift all the way to 4th gear.

After your done here is a list of parts that I am willing to buy from you when you are parting the car.

Fenders, seats, cyl head and what ever is left of the engine. The rest you can sell on ebay real quick.

just my .01 cents of wise advise

I'm suprised the CV joints cannot handle more. Like I said earlier, the 928's do not have a CV joint issue. At least none of the dozen or so I know of. Interesting.

So how do 951s do on oval tracks? Let's go, boys!

Porsches were bred for the drag strip. That's why there are so many of them in Germany. Drag racing is HUGE over there.

Do the 928's you're thinking of get launched aggressively?

Thats what kills CV's, not in gear acceleration.

Hey Porschemania, first off, learn how to drive... a porsche is made to TURN, you wanna go straight? Get a civic, and put a 602 CI, blown big block in it.

Not a lot, but the car that has had the kit on the longest is going on 4 years on the same (see original) CV joints. He's done enough launches over the past 4 years that if it was a weak link, they probably would have blown by now.

I gave this some thought since my last post. The SC S4's don't start making serious boost until above 1,500 rpm or so. This may allow the car to launch at a "resonable" level and not kill the CV's.

About my Avatar, neither of those people are me. I found this on a PS2 site.

Cv's are peanuts anyways... mine snapped when I was accererating in 3rd. Some people circuit race their cars, some drag, who really cares what someone else does with their cars as long as they are having fun? There is too much bull**** around dragging these cars. Take any 18 year old car with an 18 year old clutch and CV's and drag it and something will go at some stage. If you cant afford to mod and drag the car dont do it, if you can, then have fun! I am gong to my first official drag race this weekend! Any guesses as to my time?
