Great job diagnosing and repairing. I really like the LR venturi delete kit to simplify the vacuum system and remove potential vacuum leak locations. But your car seems properly sorted now so no need to fuss with it. Enjoy for a long timeno with no issues! 80’s turbo lag so fun 😎

Great Post!

I had a similar journey saving a 912E from abandonment and rotting back in 2010. My son and Dad helped me bring it back to its former glory. Is a mechanical restomod with a ton of upgrades, but looks 'almost' period correct. Is #770 of 2000.

Last September I stumbled on an 89 S2 in cosmetically pristine condition. I'm in the process of bringing it back to as close to factory original as possible with the exception of the wheels. I have a build thread "I am a Wet Head" over in Pelican Forums.

I noticed you are in Vienna VA. Are you on Dorkifus? I haven't been on that site for a while, but is a great local group. I'm retiring from the Army this summer, and will hang my hat in Alexandria. Will be great to get together. I've had 3 assignments in the DC area, and can't wait to get back.

OK, here are my cars.

1989 S2. This is it's first visit to a gas pump in 11 years... First shakedown ride.

2016 when stationed in the PNW. I tore around Mount Rainier 2X a week. One of my favorite shots.

A great shot. My paint and body guy did a stellar job.

The car as it currently sits. 30K miles on the build since 2016.

Forgive the Blasphemy............. 2020 Mustang Bullitt. I've had an American Muscle car in the herd since High School (1979). As much as I love my P cars, I will always have a current American Muscle Car, this will likely be my last. It has a bunch of Steeda Suspension upgrades and is brilliant on the road and track.

Hey Porsche Enthusiasts,

Exciting news! Just got my hands on the KWs v3's today along with the KW High Performance springs. For the rear, I went with KW 45-250 (257)pound 10-inch (241 effective rate), and for the front, I chose KW 70-200, (400) pound 8-inch (effective 238 rate). I opted for slightly softer springs than what KW offers out of the box and decided to skip the helper spring in my setup do to the longer springs. Plus my car is T bar delete. Feeling really good about how everything's coming together, especially with the spring rates I've selected. Anticipating a significant improvement over the M030 Factory sport suspension 175 spring front and 175 T bar rear. With these custom KW springs, paired with superior KW valving and today's high-tech tire technology, it's bound to enhance the already great handling chassis of the 951.

Also, I've removed some ultra-rare rear Porsche factory Turbo cup Koni double-adjustable coilovers (Part no's 951 333 031 34 and 951 333 032 34) and MO30 Porsche factory Koni front coilovers, double-adjustable. Drop me a message if anyone's interested.

Helio

How are you deriving your effective rates? Do the springs actually have some numbers printed on them?

Hey there,
Here's the link to the calculator I used. KW prints the rate on the springs, KW sells performance springs through ML performance. I will provide link as well. The first part of the number is the rate and the second is the length of the spring. EXAMPLE, Put in 70-200 into the calculator into lbs/inchs = 399.899

That isn't giving your effective rate. You have to utilise the suspension and wheel motion ratio to get the effective rates.

Paragon and Racers Edge show an effective rate of .56 for rear coilovers and .94 for the front. I spoke with them both on the phone and they said that was right. I also have adjustable front camber strut top mounts and sway bars front and rear to dial in the balance I want.

The setup I chose = to about 30 % firmer than the factory's M030 F 175 spring and R 175 T bar. I feel that for street sport driving that should be great. I don't understand why go any firmer.

241 x .94 = 226 front
400 x .56 = 224 rear
or
400x .58 = 232 rear as some believe Porsche says. It seems to be heavily debated. Either way, the numbers seem to work out.

Hows the ride on the new coilovers? Is it smooth and compliant?

Hi Moe,
Transformed the car. Rides like a modern sports car now. Super compliant but firm. Very smooth on all surfaces. I plan on posting about my custom spring rates and the installation and feel soon

Very nice, Im considering the KW coilovers for my car as well. Have you considered a Euro Rear bumper? Theres a guy i know that sells them. I got one for my car.

Your car being so nice, you should replace the yellow engine bay stickers on your car. Heres a kit:

Hey there, fellow 951 enthusiasts,

I could really use some assistance with my project, . As you see, I've been in the process of transitioning my 951 Simi race car into a street-friendly machine. During the engine rebuild, I also had the K 27.8 turbo refurbished. However, now that it's a street car, I'm contemplating whether a K27.6 turbo might better suit my needs. I'd greatly appreciate any insights or feedback you might have on this. And if anyone happens to have a K27.6 turbo available for sale or trade, please feel free to shoot me a PM.

Many thanks,
Helio
