Are cast 9.5 n/a pistons good for 350 hp?

If I recall correctly, Joujam broke one of the Porsche pistons, and then fitted forged aftermarket pistons. But the power was pretty high by then.

Baz said it was to do with the taper on the pistons ,which is why 968 piston was used instead of S2 16v pistons , more taper .
Had him machine the crown of a set of 968 piston for me for 8.5:1 and 2.7 head and worked well (350hp) until rod bolt let go on dyno .
There was some one else from memory who ran 2.5 pistons and it was a ring that broke eventually but lasted a fair while . Can not remember all the details but they are out there on the internet .
Blade got a set of used 968 pistons in the loft , a fair swap for your Wossners I think !

The guy that I bought the 2.7 engine from, sent me pictures of each cylinder with a compression tester fitted. And they were all very good. Plus when I stripped it down, there wasn't a mark on the bores. A basic check with slip gauges seemed to indicate no more than 0.001" wear too. There's probably some bore taper, but I'd have built it up with skimmed 968 pistons and new rings. And kept the full size windage ports, but the older I get, the more motivated I was . I'll swap you a good set of 2.7 pistons and rods for those 968 pistons though...
