Default shim wastegate or just replace?

Ok. The 18 psi chips are in, new boost gauge is in, Reliaboost is in, cv is bypassed correctly, all new vacuum lines, 12 psi is all I'm getting. The car pulls great and runs great. Gas mileage went up with Guru chips by several MPGs! I think everything is working as it should but I need to put down more boost. I haven't gone through the trouble of shimming the wastegate yet. Is the shim job onerous enough that I should just order a rebuilt one from Danno so I'm sure I won't have to do it again? The money isn't as big a deal as finding the time.

replace it. Getting my Tial 46mm wastegate was teh best upgrade I made. The new WG will hold as much boost as you want all the way to redline, its awesome.

double check the reliaboost too. upgraded wastegate is probably the way to go. yet to do it myself, but it seems to be the best way to go in the long run.

Well, I had such a pain with it I am glad I just went with the GURU wastegate instead of shimming then changeing out the WG down the raod anyway. I am running the 18's also and makes and holds no problem, assuming your turbo doesn;t run out of steam.

If you havn't already, this would be the best time to do cat bypass.

thanks for the perspective. I'll call Danno today. Elon, I may take you up on that - much thanks for the offer. What color is Flamingo Metallic?

Thanks,

Todd,

Thanks for the tip. Despite the high-performance facade, I'm a tree hugger at heart so if cat bypass means what it sounds like, I'm going to hang onto it for now. Now a free-flowing cat is tempting or a catalytic test pipe...I think I need more research before I make an exhaust decision.

Get advice from Danno on reliaboost. I use a LBE and my OEM, yes yes yes i know they suck, boost guage runs up to 2 bar (slightly under 15psi) and sticks. I put on an accuboost and with the **** completely turned in all the way, i would touch 2 bar until about 550 and then it would back off to below 2 bar. i have a stock WG.

i would definitely check the boost controller first.

Similar to silver rose- It is silver with a hint of a pinkish champagne color to it. Fairly rare- didnt like it at first, but its grown on me

az,

I would go for the extremepsi.com version and weld in some pipes. Very easy and cheaper than the adapter plates.

Well one place is SFR (speed force racing) call Tim up and he'll send you the adapter plates as well. SFR is a site sponsor and located in San Diego, I purchased my Tial 46mm from SFR, among other things.
