Default J-boot to big turbo connection?

Has anyone successfully mounted the stock black rubber J-pipe to a big-inlet turbo (2.5 or 3.0 inch inlet)? Temporary sets up are ok. Details on how you did it would be helpful. Pictures would be great. Did you have to cut the stock J-pipe short?

Yes, you have to cut the stock J-pipe.

Danno, sent an e-mail. I have that missing part for you too if you send me your address (or want to stop by when in town).

If its not too much bigger you can probably put the J boot end in hot water. This 1. expands and softens the rubber 2. provides a natural lubricant to slip it over.

Just a thought.

NZ, have you actually done this? I'm surprised it would stretch at boiling temp, in light of all the heat it must endure under the hood.

Uh, no it won't stretch that much. Many of the J-boots have very delicate rubber at this point, more like plastic. Won't lend itself to much stretching. Many of them crack just from being removed from the turbo..

Tom,

Not tried it, was just thinking out loud from my rubber experience...
