It has been rebuilt... "new" track car
At last the rebuild is complete. Started life as a humble 1985 944 and was transformed into this 3L turbo charged monster by Albert Broadfoot. We took second in GTO in the Grand Am Rolex Series in 2000.
Grand Am trim...
PCA trim...
For years we have been trying to sell it with little interest... Well here she is again, now as a 2.6L turbo built on a destroked 3L 968 block. No longer for sale... Hopefully she will make it to the dyno this week.
Rebuild and refresh by Albert Broadfoot. Fresh engine, paint, and bodywork...

Wow!
That thing is beautiful! Why is it not listed in your signature????
Surely such a monster deserves a place listed next to your GT3!
I'd love to hear a comparison of their on-track manners!
EDIT - Destroked to 2.6 primarily for compliance with PCA rules? I can't recall what the SCCA displacement limit is on FI cars...
What class do you run that in??

This car ran GT1s in PCA Club Racing... GT1 is a tough row to hoe. Dropping to 2.6L was in an effort to reclass the car to GT3 and to improve its drivability. No real comparison between the GT3 and this animal... the GT3 is a ball at the track but I still have more fun in a dedicated track car. Not sure where it would run in SCCA...probably in SPO or some other catch all group. I am also curious to know where it would class in HSR.

There was a lot of debate on deleting the shafts and I was actually looking for a little input. From the under hood picture above they appear to still be there. I was just curious what kind of gains you had by keeping them on a car like that.

Sorry Travis,
The logic behind the inclusion or disclusion of the shafts is beyond my general knowledge. I am not really sure if the engine is still running the balance shafts or not. I could be wrong, but I always thought that on a dedicated track car they would not be needed since the engine does not spend much time at any one RPM... like when cruising on the interstate.

Very nice!
I have been drooling over the Adel Wiggins flexible tube connectors in Racecar Engineering magazine for quite some time. Nice clean way to seal IC pipes.
