Question oil dipstick o-ring

anyone know what size this o-ring is? I called the dealer to order some parts: the oring, 3 crush rings, 4 nuts and bolts and they wanted 314.11

At least one 16mm one for the outside flange (not stock)... got stock ones on the stick holder itself here... only a couple of $.

nz are there 2 orings on the dip tube?? I pulled the turbo and my dip tube came up with no resistance so I think that I may not have any orings on my dip tube

900 174 044 40 is the part number for the o-ring. I don't know the exact size and I just put my dipstick tube back in and really don't feel like removing it. What nuts and bolts are you looking for? I know the M10 locking nuts from Porsche are about $12 a piece but $300+ is way out of whack. They must have included something wrong or looked up a part number incorrectly.

People use many o-rings on the stick! I used a stock one which slides over the tube, and a 16mm on the flange, as per Danno's instructions. Not leaks now!

PS, look for your o-ring split or broken the the cavity where it sits, thats where mine turned up!

I've seen some lazy mechanics just completely coat the outside of the dipstick-tube interface with the oil-pan with silicone... I suppose if you get the surfaces clean enough and smear enough silicone on the outside, it won't leak. Not exactly elegant, but I guess that can work.

In haste I cut a thin wafer of fuel line hose and used that. Works.........but the proper one is on my list.

NZ are you talking about the oil fill tube because 16mm sounds way to big

That 16mm sits on top of the oil-pan and is under the outermost step on the flange on the dip-stick tube. Smear some Yamabond on that gasket and flange. Then after it's inserted in the oil-pan, push down on the dip-stick tube as you tighten the bolt.
