Default Well then! (Electrical issue)

So for about a week or two now my battery has been having some issues. Might have to be replaced, but I hadn't had problems with it before, so wasn't sure. I would have to jump start it if it was sitting for more than 12 hours or so.

Anyway, I was sitting in the car, parked, about ready to get out when I realized I left the windows down. I pressed the button to get 'em up without thinking to put the key back in...except the windows moved.

Yeah, the windows work on their own now, with no key required. Since I am worthless in terms of electrical matters, what say ye? Is the battery constantly feeding juice to the electrical components? Anyone else's car do this?

Thanks in advance

Hook up an amprage meter to your battery, and start pulling fuses. When the amps drop, take a look at what the fuse was for, and further investigate..

The windows are suppose to work like that. Once you open the door they should not work anymore.

Actually, when the doors are open, and the key is not in the ignition, the windows should work. Once the door is closed, the windows shouldn't work, from my past 2 944's, that was the case.

Interesting feature there, I'll have to test it out and make sure they stop working after the door opens. Yet another feature built into these old cars that filters its way into normal cars decades later. Thanks for the info

the window business is a fairly common problem (if your interior lights work properly, then the window relay should operate correctly also) but will not kill a battery in 12 hours. Have you had any electrical accessories installed recently? It's not unusual to trace a draw to the improper installation of an amp. or alarm system.
