So finally got my GT30R turbo installed and running in my car.
My GT30R is a steel ball bearing T04E .60a/r 56 Trim 4’’ inlet on the compressor and T3 .63a/r 84 trim 2-1/2’’ outlet on the turbine.
Here are some picture and info i got from doing all of this.
First the size difference from a k26/6 VS GT30R
How it runs,
Well it runs STRONG, sound crazy and pulls hard from 3500rpm to the revlmt.
I see 15psi by about 3300-3500rpm. ( i only did 2 test drives at 15psi up to now)
I need to rebuild my control arm before i can drive her.
What i did to fit the GT30R.
1-the easy parts.
-I used Luke’s AC delete bracket do get clearance for the 4’’ inlet.
-The GT30 that i bought has a 4 bolt 2-1/2’’ outlet on the turbine housing. So you guys will never believe that it BOLTS up to the factory downpipe WITHOUT ANY MODS….
But take under consideration that i have a custom 3’’ lower downpipe that may be different then the one sold by the tuners. But my lower downpipe was built to fit the stock set-up so this shouldn’t be a problem.
And that the upper downpipe will not bolt up to the block like factory.
The gt30r is shorter then a k26 by about 1/2’’. The GT’s centre section is very narrow. (this become an obstacle later)
-If properly clocked, the compressor outlet will fit with the intercooller pipe and normal grinding is required to fit the T04E housing like everybody does when going to a T04E.
For the inlet well i just fit a 4’’ k&n filter straight on the turbo for now until i fab up a nice pipe to put the filter in front of the overflow tank.
2-Custom parts.
-A custom oil feed line need to be fabricated. I went to a local hydraulic shop and they made me a custom SS line. Witch required, a 14mm banjo at the block, and a 7/16 inverted flare fitting at the turbo. ( this may not be so easy if the shop you go to are not very helpful)
-2 14mm banjo’s with bolt for the water line’s then some fitting and rubber hose to make it all work with the original design of the coolant system. ( i deleted the temp sender at the turbo for now until i re-design that hose to work with it. But the pump still works without the temp sender)
3- Custom fabrication.
-The oil outlet and mount needed some big mod’s to work. Some may say it did it crappy but it works for now and if it brakes then i will build a custom mount.
Since the centre section is very narrow. It doesn’t fit on the mount like the K26.

So to adapt the new flange to the mount a used a hydraulic steel heavy duty adapter that i threaded into the mount and into the GT flange. The reason i did this is simple. The GT centre section is not only narrow but its has a much smaller diameter. So i had to gain a bit of height so that the turbine housing would not touch the mount. With this adapter i was able to solve 2 problem and have adjustment with the threads if need.
-For the cross overpipe it was fairly easy. I bought a T3 steel flange an a 90deg 2-1/2’’ SS bend. I cut the 90deg to the angle required to line it up to the crossover pipe ( COP) and welded it to the t3 flange. Then i cut the COP to line up with the new flange bolted to the turbo. After some good welding by my friend. We got the new 2-1/2’’ pipe to fit good on the 2’’ COP. Some porting is required on the flange to ease the flow into the turbo. It all fits perfect. (see picture)
And i think that about it.
I will be doing some dyno runs in a few weeks. I’ll post em as soon as they are printed.

Hi Edman,
Got a question. Since you threaded both
ends, how did you manage to mount
the CHRA to the engine mount ?
Am I correct to assume that the turbo is
now mounted slightly higher than the
original KKK ?

Holy shiet. That's sexy as hell. Can anyone tell me if this is the same compressor and turbine size of the GT30/40r that I am looking to go with. It's nice to see the turbo can be mounted without too much hassle. Now that someone has done it completely it will make my install go much easier. Thanks for the pics that's one nice compressor inlet. Let us know what kinds of number's she put's down. Those new GT turbo's are supposed to be the cat's meow(so they say)

how did you manage to mount
The GT has a much smaller diameter on the center section.
So it's not bolted higher, its the mount that need to be higher to reach the GT.
