Talking New tires

I finally got a set of new tires. After doing a lot of research and checking into all the different tires, I ended up with the yokahama AVS ES 100s. These tires are awesom!!!!!!!! The steering responce is great, the ride is smooth, the grip is outstanding, and the tires are fairly quiet. Just thought I would write this, because I know there has been much discussion about tires lately. But I can tell you there is a night and day difference between my kumho ecsta Supra 712s and the yokos. I about passed out at the price though, they are much cheaper than most other sports tires, but 17 inch tires are outrageous. Cheers to Yokahama for making a great product

Glad to hear you are happy. Be careful the first few hundred miles. New tires can be slippery.

Drive for 200 miles or so taking it easy in speed, acceleration, braking and steering (you might say your breaking them in ) enjoy

Or you can take my approach and just drive the snot out of the car some place with safe run off (just so you do not slide into anyone/thing) that way you will scrub in the tires real quick. I broke in one set of tires at an auto-x one year that way tires only had 20 miles on them out for the first run and I slid each turn, by the last run they were 5 seconds faster. Richard how much did vlad charge for your paint job? you can pm me if you do not want to post it. Are you happy with his work, any flaws that jump out at you?

As expected. I wish more people would give something else a try to see what I have been saying.

I had a set of ES 100's (225/50 & 245/45) mounted today on my '86 phone dials. I haven't put any miles on them yet as my '86 is in the process of a major overhaul and is not driveable. I'm prepping it for sale.

I am really pleased with the price of these tires and the tread pattern looks good too.

Glad to see there are others that are happy with these tires.

Matt H, I remember reading on someone elses thread to try these tires and that is one of the reason, I went with them. So far I am in love. The car is simply great.

The ES100 is a great tire value - I have them on my 968 Cab and in the same size 225/45/17 and 255/40/17 as on my 951S that have the AVS Sports - the ES 100 compare very well with the AVS Sports from what I can tell on the road - no track time on the 100's tho. Gotta get around to swapping the ES100's onto the 951S for a real comparison I guess!
