Default So I dyno'd the 2.8L motor today...

... and I'm very happy with the results! Motor has 400miles on it, very little blowby, zero oil consumption, engine oil is completely clean. The exhaust smells good, no smoke out the exhaust. And now, the numbers... these are Mustang Dyno numbers, on a same day comparison with a dynojet, it was shown that the dynojet reports around 13% higher. For those that want to compare it to their own dynojet numbers, I put an approximate guess at the dynojet equivilant number.

6psi - 257whp (~290whp dynojet)
10psi - 302whp/284wtq (~341whp dynojet)
12psi - 322whp/299wtq (~363whp dynojet)

This is a very rough tune, just to see how the car's running. The boost controller isn't set to hit hard on the boost yet, the AFR is aimed at 12.5:1, but is still a bit off, and the timing curve is completely flat at 18 degrees past 8psi of boost. A bit more tweaks in timing and I'll improve that torque drop like last year. There's zero knock thus far, once I get more miles on the motor, I'll do more cleanup and turn up the boost.

An interesting note, I went up 12% in displacement, but I'm making 20% more torque at the same boost level. Maybe it's the life of the 2.5L motor, maybe it's the bigger turbo...

I'm very happy to see that the torque curve really didn't shift on the rpm graph, one of the reasons why I went big bore and not stroke. Just shifted upwards. Hopefully, I'll be able to see 400whp (dynojet of course hehe) on pump gas... that's the goal this year and so far it looks like I'm on my way there.

Awesome, Rage! Looks like your tune is already pretty decent, how much boost will you eventually be running day-to-day?

Depends on when it knocks . I do wanna see if this turbo is good for 500whp though on the good gas. But if you want me to guess, I'll guess that I'll be able to manage 16psi on pump gas, which would net probably another 40whp.

I wonder how much more power a full 3" exhaust would get me. I'm still running the stock exhaust lol.

That is a bad boy turbo! Seems like a low 1/4 mile time... soft start?

Just for comparison here are my old charts. This is with 11-13psi, deltagate wastgate, autothority maf, light fly, old used stock turbo, stock(leaking) injectors, stock exhaust with cat, no tuning, and a blowby problem.

eurospeed951, you are in definately need of a bigger turbo. You're running out of steam at 4000rpm .

Have you fixed your blowby problem yet?

no, I took it off the road back on Thanksgiving weekend. I have been busy with school and have not even pulled it apart yet. I also need to do some more research and see how things pan out for you and David Floyd. There's also the minor issue that I have no money left, after round one, to put into it at the moment.
As of now the plan is to take it slow and over the next few years build it exactly they way I want it.

Sorry to hear. Yea, the 2.8L project definately wasn't cheap. I know I went well over budget on it. I'm lucky to have an understanding wife .
