Default will this TO4E fit

Garrett T04E oil-cooled turbocharger. The a/r on the exhaust side is .84 and on the compressor side is .70. The Inlet on the compressor side is 4 inch, outlet is 2.5 inch. The exhaust side is tang divided for super fast spooling and has the standard T4 flange for the inlet and a 3.25 inch I.D. and 4 inch O.D. outlet.

The a/r's are way too high in my opinion. Unless you have a 3.0 500HP monster in mind.

HUGE! That turbo would suit a rotary to give you an idea.

Daniel,
How are you planning on making the turbo fit the crossover pipe, downpipe, and oild connections? I am currious because I am thinking about doing the same thing in the near future except with a T3/T04e.

Thanks,
John

You might want to try these two 70a/r to big for 2.5 i think.

Will one of these fit if so i will go halfers with someone.

Here are two very nice T04E's for your twin turbo project! Up for auction are two identical used Garrett T04E oil-cooled turbochargers. The a/r on the exhaust sides are 1.00 and on the compressor sides are .50. The Inlet on the compressor sides are 2.75" O.D. and the outlets are 2.875" O.D. The exhaust inlets are tang divided for fast spooling and have the standard T3 flange as seen on most aftermarket turbo manifolds. The outlets are 2.625". The compressor wheels inducer diameters are 1.89" or 48mm and the exhaust wheels are P-trim. The shafts spin freely without play. Both turbos feel the same as far as shaft spinning and movement. Cosmetically one is a little nicer than the other. One has some minor pitting on the exhaust housing but that will not effect the way it operates.

The 0.70AR compressor housing is HUGE and you'll have a hard time fitting that thing under the intake manifold/throttle body.

I got mine to fit by replacing the TPS with a smaller one from an M3, plus of course all the other crap you need to do to fit a T04E compressor under there.

Nowhere near bolt-on.

The tang divided exhaust inlet is also not ideal for our cars.

Sam,
Why? Because you need to modify the crossover, or what?

Thanks,
John

They're designed to mate up with 8-cylinder engines where you have 2 banks of headers coming into one turbo, to isolate individual pressure pulses from each bank. In our case it's just too large an opening and the tang itself just serves as a restriction in area. A long while back TonyG posted a pic of a modified divided tang that he tried.

Is anyone going to ask what compressor and what turbine are one these turbos? It's not just the a/r numbers that count after all. Swapping out housings is usually not that big of a deal - we do it with our RX7's all the time. Changing crompressor's or turbines however is usually a more expensive endeavor.

Note: I just re-read the thread and see that they have a p-trim turbine. Does anyone know what compressor those measurements are for? As for their value I paid $600 US for a new T04E 60-1, p-trim turbo with a 1.00 a/r for my RX7 about 2 years ago.
