Default 944 transaxle gear shift.

I have been thinking about how to convert my turbo gearbox from an H gate to a sequential shift. Lots of silly ideas based on cam wheels and levers etc, but mostly wishful thinking. My latest thoughts have drifted towards using electric actuators and a bit of electronics to do the sequencing. There is a company called MME Motorsport who make some nice looking conversions but they are expensive. Has anyone else had any ideas?

Personally i've never heard of anyone fitting a sequential gearbox in a 944 , although i'm guessing it would be a pretty expensive adventure.
Do a search on the Pelican forums, lots of crafty people there !
I sure would love one in my SP2 car ...

Cheers

Are you looking for just a sequential style shifter or to actually shift quicker?

Most reliable option for quick shifting is probably a Boxster/Cayman PDK.

For just the sequential style ratcheting shifter, I've seen some cable operated ones. I've read Porsche prototyped a cable-operated sequential shifter in the 968. Don't know if the transmission was changed or just the shift mechanism.

I have a BMW M3 with a SMG gearbox (Sequential Manual Gearbox) Its baically a manual gearbox+clutch with hydraulic\electric shifting . Most people owning these cars hate it and gets ridd of the system asap becouse they do not like not beeing able to fully control the gear and clutch action. For me its fine but i would never convert to it from manual. Only benifit i can think of is no money shifts and perfect revmatch on any downshift.

Default Sequential shift.

I was thinking maybe it would work a bit like the bike. Slight touch on the clutch and moments lift on the throttle, while gear change does its thing.

They don't make a setup for the 951 'box but you get the idea. You can switch to a different gearbox but to be honest it's a lot of work and expense for an experiment.

If you edit your thread title to something about Sequential shifting you'll get more responses. Although Rennlist is a LOT quieter nowadays.
