944 Turbo (wet) weight
I weighed my 86 turbo at a very accurate scale (claimed to be accurate to 10 lbs) two days ago. The weight as I drove the car there was 3040lbs, including all topped off fluids, full tank of gas, floor mats, other small misc items and so forth. I had what I would imagine to be around 45lbs of tools in the hatch (I will weigh these seperately), and 20lbs or so worth of stereo stuff. That comes to just under 3000lbs.
Seems a bit on the heavy side doesn't it? Please share your experiences.
Thanks
Ahmet

What options does the car have? What have you removed? what have you added? has the car been repainted? any mods? how much does your roll bar weigh?

Sounds just right!
I had my Turbo S corner balanced.
3320 with my 170 lbs weight in it. Included was 1/2 tank of gas. Standard spare tire & tool kit. Extras where supplemental tool kit of sockets and wrenches. 2 qts oil and 1 gallon of water.

Sounds about right for an '86 as well. I had my '86 corner-balanced and aligned a while back. With 150lbs of ballast in the driver's seat, 1/2 tank of gas, no sunroof, spare, jack, toolkit, or rear interior, but with race seat, rollbar and heavier street wheels, it came to 2970.

I do not currently have a roll bar in the car. I have not removed much at all, custom exhaust turbo back, but that's about it. This weight does include a turbo S transaxle though, and some other minor stuff. Other than that, it wasn't stripped in the least, not even the floor mats. Everything was in the car, as I drive it on the street.
In comparison a friends 3rd gen RX-7 tt came to 2700 and change.

mine weighed in a 3047lbs at the raceway. Everything in the car. spare, tools, half a tank of gas ect. Is this normal weight for an 88?
Nothing has been removed. This was before my mods.

Do you have ABS and airbags? Those were the items that added about 100-150 lbs in going to the '87+ cars compared to the '86. Not to mention the 10-speaker stereo and other options.

Okay, I have corner scales, so this is accurate.
'87 without:
driver, abs, cruise, catalyst, airbags, afm, ac, sunroof motor, rear seat upright, windshield water res., spare, jack, tools, power steering, door bars
With:
6 pound flywheel, rear barrel helpers, real 993's 265 and 215
2844 pounds - and I would have to crank the front up to about 14 inches off the ground to get anywhere near a reasonable corner balance

I just thought 3047 for a 88 was a little light. I mean if I removed the spare tire and tools I could be under 3000lbs will all major option's. Is this normal?

It is a little light, eh? I think the amount of gas in the car makes a big difference and people forget how much gas they actually have in the car when they weigh it. A full tank of gas weighs 170lbs.

Mine weighed 3140 w/ full Safety Devices cage, Sparco Evo2 seats instead of factory, full interior except for rear seatback. All options on car, 1/2 tank gas.

With my camera, a few tools, badminton racket, two crutches, and a wooden stick in the hatch my car came to exactly 3000lbs the other day when we went and weighed it.

So with avg fluids, avg sive driver, standard mods, etc. about 2900-3200lbs. So split the differnce, daily driver with you in it appx. = 3100
