Ok I'll start off by saying that its not the total poor mans hub resto as I have a HF sandblasting cabinet and a marginally large enough air compressor. I prefer the look of vapor blasting as it gives a more OEM casting look to the surface finish. I did look into have the hubs vapor blasted and it was about $100. I already had the HF cabinet so............ Will be doing the A-arms next. If I drop the cross member will do that too.
1) Sandblast hubs.
2) Take a wire brush to the entire surface. This is my fav part. I hate the look of blasted AL parts and this actually gives a nice quasi as cast look.
3) Cerakote with their new Al coating designed for AL parts that are up to a mirror finish. Have not applied Cerakote yet to these parts.
It's interesting to see that the two hubs have different material coloration as the same exact process was done to both.
