Where are you at in NorCal? I started my 944 turbo journey about 15 months ago - you can ping me for non expert feedback.

Well done! At the right price this will be a fun adventure. And indeed many of us will be looking forward to updates as you bring the car back.

Unsolicited advice, pull the engine to do your repairs. Will save you days if not weeks of frustration and work. You’ll have easy access to everything. You can pull an engine on a Saturday morning. Trying to figure out how to change the oil cooler gasket with only inches of space to work in, as one example, will take you an entire week, ask me how I know.

I'm in Walnut Creek. Do you have an old set of wheels/tires?

sounds like good advice.

currently the game plan is to change the timing belt and fuel system to get it fired up. at that point we'll assess what leaks. I have budgeted for a engine out reseal.

The clutch pedal is also stuck to the floor.

I had the exact same thought. Fixed a bad fuel pump, fuel hoses, bad DME relay, and bad DME. Finally fired up only to hear coolant and oil pouring out from the oil cooler housing. If it’s been sitting for ten yrs the oil cooler housing gasket is most likely shot. This will allow coolant and oil to mix which can damage the bearings. Manual says to replace bearings if this happens. You’ll have to also make sure you flush the oil pump and oil galleys.

Lots of info online. Just something to keep in mind.

I am curious what fuel pump is currently on the car.

I changed out the fuel pump on the yellow KMR 968 for Soloracer as it had an aftermarket fuel pump that came from a Corvette if I am remembering correctly what Soloracer said.

I put in a new Bosch 044 he had. The 044 was a far better pump than what I removed.

Without question pull the engine! You will spend years on your back wishing you had!

You need more than a timing belt my friend. It will even make changing the clutch hydraulics easier... and cleaning up that rat's nest... and... well, just about everything really

Gruhsy, that's dedication. Don't mean to hijack thread but I've been debating if I should upgrade all the rear bushings, I would use OEM rubber from Elephant Racing. By the look of your pictures, I'm assuming you upgraded all the bushings. Did you notice a difference in the ride quality. I'm not so much interested in performance but more about comfort and softer ride, less road noice and vibrations. Just wondering if its worth going through the effort, which I know is a subjective thing, but any input is always helpful.

The car is still all apart
I have 2 cars in this state
The Rage2 car is also completely apart

My main 50000km… 31000 mile car I built has all new suspension except shocks and struts
I did all solid Elephants on that.

New rubber Elephants would be a good idea on the KMR 951 car and your car.

I would lean towards the stiffer rubber myself but new stock is decent.

I am looking forward to new coilovers on my solid car to see the ride quality. KW’s or Motion Control or maybe Intrax. I rode in a car setup with Ohlins which was phenomenal. Also the Yellow 968 KMR has KW’s and rides nice on the highway. All those little highway bumps disappeared on the Ohlins car and most on the KW 968 when Soloracer took me for a ride.
