Question Saturn Exhaust Studs

I just bought a bunch of exhaust studs from Saturn(the ones that are supposedly a perfect replacement for our, witouth the Porsche price tag). I'll replacing my exhaust gaskets soon, and I kind of expect the studs to break. So my quiestion is this: what type of socket do I need for the hex end of these studs and where can I get it? I don''t think I've ever seen a socket for them before.

I just used a regular socket I think 10mm fit it best but I might be wrong on the size.

If memory serves the Saturn studs use a Torx style socket.

Its a torx bit, and yes, sears sells them. How much did you pay, as I am getting ready to buy a handful of them myself...

A 6 point 5mm socket (1/4 inch size) will do the trick . Just did it last week. No need for any fancy tool.
Scott, they are less than $.80 a piece. With 8 copper locking nuts, I paid approx $10. They are a must as I just saved myself from needing to remove the head just to get the intake manifold off.
Good luck.

Eight of them cost me a whopping $3.36. The socket is going to cost me more than the studs.

I just checked, and my regular 5mm hex socket is ever so slightly too small, it gets on the end of the stud, but just barely, and my 5.5mm socket is too big. I think I'm off to Sears tomorrow.

Can you confirm that the length is ok on them? It has been previously posted that the Saturn studs were not quite long enough to fully engage enough threads when the manifold was in place.

Seacay, there are no issues with length. There are atleast 4 threads showing after they have been tighten down.
Regards.

Just out of curiosity, is there anything different between a hardened threaded shaft and something that is specificaly an exhaust stud? Other then the obvious ease of removal with the torx head and cheap $.80 price I mean. I'm asking because I've got a stripped bolt where one of them should be and I might need to tap it to a bigger size and already have a couple different sized threaded shafts I could cut down to use. They're a whole lot easier to find then specific studs when going to a bigger sized hole.
