yep, where the NA oil cooler is, we just have an oil line running through, with an o ring, if it goes then the coolent and oil mix. thats what happened. It's not that common on the 951, but it does happen...

Yep, cheap insurance (ok 35 bucks for a seal kit but that's cheaper than your bearing spinning by far), Granted that housing can be a miserable bastard to remove. If you have some short handled 32 and 27mm open end wrenches it makes life much easier. Take the oil lines off first and it's not bad to get the housing out. Took me 5 hours to take the dang thing out all told and maybe 60 minutes to put it back in just because it was cleaned up and I had the oil lines off.

The radiator cap is easy to remove. Seriously I think the cooler housing/oil filter stand is among the most miserable parts I've ever had the pleasure of removing from a car. The Master Cylinder heat shield is deceptively tough too but maybe mine was just warped or something. Actually getting that on is the harder part.
The core problem with the 951 is that when they turboed an existing design that was already somewhat crowded, they basically had to put 10 pounds of **** in a 5 lb sack and so you end up with everything being pretty miserable to service.
Last time I opened the hood on my Geo Tracker after working on the 951 for a couple weeks I just had this feeling of "holy crap! where is everything?" with all the room under the hood it has by comparison.

not only that, in some places if you drop a washer, bolt, tool or elephant, you will never find it again. There is that one part that is the 951 engine bay abyss. nothing that has entered it has ever been seen again!

I've got a 10mm wrench that's now a permanent resident down behind the driver's side wheel well sorta behind the brake booster in a crevice. Pisses me off, it was one of the ones with the socket on one end and often came in handy. Oh well time to buy a whole set of em now!

It will get the vast majority of them, and where are you finding aluminum washers? I don't think too many of them are. There may be a few, but not that many. I guess the washers on the cam hole covers are aluminum, and the oil pan, but that is all i have seen.

Bolt is out, turbo is out. thanks guys, maybe now I have a chance at having the car working. Any tips on reassembly welcome, I don't want to mess up with no time extra.

Seriously, I know you're facing a deadline, but don't rush yourself to the point that you end up breaking something because of an oversight. Torque and anti-seize everything that's touching the exhaust parts. Replace the fire and o-rings. Not cheap but you don't want to have to pull the SOB again to fix an oil leak under your turbo (plus the fact that it's a potential fire hazard anyway)

i sprayed stuff on the bolts, but i didn't replace the o rings, they looked really good. you mean on top and bottom right? If i had more time, i would. But i hold high priority on this DE. If it leaks, and not too bad, I'll live with it since I'll be upgrading turbo asap. I dont think it will leak though.
