Give us the run down on the performance of the GT30 Turbo. I wish one of the tuners produced a kit for a full house Garett ballistic turbo, which included the adapter for the oil flange and welded on the cross over and down pipe exhaust flanges on an exchange basis. I do not want to pay $2,000 for a custom header system and downpipe.

My F250 6.0 turbo diesel does the same thing when i shut it off.
It's got a GT BB turbo from the factory.
I think it really sound cool. Specially without a muffler. Because you heard it out the tail pipe

Hopefully, this weekend I will have my first experience with a GT30. I will keep you guys posted. I am not planning on going nuts as I want to dyno it first. Chris warned me not to floor it until I get it on a dyno and get it tuned as the turbo flows some serious air.
For this reason, I am sticking with stock wastegate until its time to dyno. It will give me the safety margin I am looking for. My biggest fear was oil or water leaks around the turbo as it require quite a few custom pieces. Thank god, everything looks good so far. I am keeping my fingers crossed as a car sitting on jack stands is not a true test.
If anyone is interested, I have a GT25 that I bought as a backup in case I thought the GT30 was not a good setup for a street 968 turbo. I have a feeling I will be keeping the GT30, so the GT25 setup is for sale. According to Chris, the GT25 is a great setup for a 2.5 or 2.8 and GT30 is better for 3.0. It includes the following:
Turbo
Customs adapters
Custom crossover
Custom downpipe
MAF/Chips
All exhaust pieces are HP coated.
This turbo is supposed to spool quicker than a K26/6 yet make over 400rwhp.
Regards.

I don't see how running the stock wastegate would be "safer" than an aftermarket one. The purpose of the wastegate is to control boost levels with no boost creep. If you put a big turbo on and keep a small wastegate you will get dangerous boost creep. I have a Tial 46 mm wastegate on my car which is overkill for a k27/8 but might be perfect for the GT30.

Soloracer, stock wastegate is NOT too small, the spring is simply too weak. So, for Raj's use, it'll bleed off increasing boost, helping prevent spikes. The 46mm is useless in our cars.

yes my NON ball bearing turbo spins for about 15-20 sec after I shut off the engine on idle
Konstantin
PS why the 46 mm TIAL is useless?
Iunderstad it is not necessary with a stock Turbo but not useless!

Notice I said "in our cars" - there is no difference between the 38 and 46mm for us, we don't need the added flow, hence useless to upgrade to it.
